It's Fire Prevention Week!

Did you know that working smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a reported home fire in half? As we kick off Fire Prevention Week, the Stanly County Fire Marshal’s Office encourages every resident to complete a 5-minute smoke alarm check this week.

Quick Safety Checklist:
🔊 Test monthly: Push the test button on every smoke alarm in your home.
🔋 Replace batteries: Swap out batteries at least twice a year (or when you hear the low-battery chirp).
🗓️ Check the date: Smoke detectors expire after 10 years! Check the manufacture date on the back of your units.
🚪 Proper placement: Install alarms inside every bedroom, outside sleeping areas, and on every level of your home.

A HEARTFELT UPDATE ABOUT FALL CRAWL

With a heavy heart, we want to share that United Way Stanly Fall Crawl will be taking a pause this year.

This was not an easy decision. Fall Crawl has become such a special tradition in our community—a night filled with shopping, fun, fellowship, and incredible support for our local community.

We are so grateful to all of our downtown business partners who have supported Fall Crawl over the years and helped make it such a wonderful event.

As a small organization with limited staff, we have made the difficult decision to focus our time and resources currently on our annual giving and workplace campaigns, which are the foundation that allows us to continue serving Stanly County and supporting nine local nonprofits through our Community Impact Grants.

So while Fall Crawl is taking a break this year, our commitment to Stanly County is not.
And we are already looking forward to bringing Fall Crawl back bigger, better, and more exciting next year!

In the meantime, we would LOVE to help shine a spotlight on our downtown businesses this fall!

📣🌧️ COMMUNITY NIGHT OUT CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER ⛈️

Due to the severity and timing of the forecasted thunderstorms this afternoon, Community Night Out is officially cancelled.

While we are incredibly disappointed to call off the event, the safety of our community, vendors, and volunteers is our absolute top priority. We want to ensure we can provide an afternoon of uninterrupted fun and engagement, which simply isn't possible with today's severe weather forecast.
