04/24/2026

Join us as we come together to honor and celebrate our planet with love, care, and community spirit.

We’ve been working hard preparing our shared spaces cleaning, restoring, and getting everything ready so everyone can enjoy a welcoming and beautiful day together. This is a moment to recognize the importance of protecting the Earth and the power we have when we come together as neighbors.

Come out this Saturday to:

🌱 Celebrate nature and environmental care
🤝 Connect with community
🧹 Support a cleaner, greener neighborhood
💚 Share in a day of love for the Earth

Let’s continue building a stronger, healthier community—one space, one action, one heart at a time.

Did you know?

For youth and families impacted by ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences), community gardening can be deeply healing. Safe, supportive green spaces help calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and lift mood while building connection, confidence, and belonging.

At Albany Victory Gardens, every seed planted by our young people is a step toward resilience, hope, and lifelong well-being.

Your support helps make this healing possible. Donations help us provide safe garden spaces, tools, education, and youth programs that nurture wellness and community care. Consider giving today and help us grow healing, one seed, one child, one garden at a time.

We were proud to join the celebration at the Frank Chapman Memorial Institute, where Mitchell Keyes, our Community Leadership Council President, was recognized for the leadership that keeps the Produce Pickup Project running strong.

Mitch is the engine behind our food distribution by guiding the flow, coordinating the logistics, and making sure our volunteers are prepared and supported so the community receives fresh food with dignity and care. The work happens because he makes it happen.

Thank you to Dorcey Applyrs, Norma Chapman, Coach Hood, Senator Patricia A. Fahy, and Assemblymember Gabriella A. Romero for honoring his impact in such a meaningful way.

Mitch’s commitment drives the Produce Pickup Project forward feeding families, strengthening community, and showing what service truly looks like.

At the Frank Chapman Memorial Institute, Mitchell Keyes our Community Leadership Council President, was honored for the powerful work he brings to Albany Victory Gardens.

Mitch tends his garden with care and purpose of growing fresh, healthy produce and sharing his knowledge so the community can learn the value of nutritious, homegrown food. His leadership strengthens not only the garden, but the lives it touches.

We’re grateful to Dorcey Applyrs, Norma Chapman, Coach Hood, Senator Patricia A. Fahy, and Assemblymember Gabriella A. Romero for recognizing his impact.

Albany Victory Gardens thrives because of leaders like Mitch, who grow food, grow knowledge, and grow community.
