Great district meeting this evening. Thank you.
Recap:
Membership- great. Trending up. 4 scouts to go to be positive year over year for October.
Training- great. 80.8%, Woodbadge - 19, IOLS-5, Baloo-2 from Fort Orange.
Advancement-great. Track all advancements.
Merit Badges- great. 7 new MB Counselors in Fort Orange.
STEM-2 great events coming in Nov(GE) and Dec(RPI).
Program- great. 50 scouts at Hooked on Scouting. Register early for Rockets over Rotary.
Exploring-great. Leaders getting trained and new units being started.
Camping - no report.
Finance - popcorn is slowing down, please keep promoting selling until the end Nov. 1. Small business- partners with a purpose campaign beginning.

📢 Scouting America Membership Renewal Changes Coming (2026–2028)

Scouting America is transitioning all unit and member renewals to a February renewal cycle to simplify the membership process and better align with recruiting season.

Key highlights:

✅ Unit renewals begin transitioning in September 2026.
✅ Individual member renewals transition throughout 2027 using prorated fees.
✅ By February 2028, all units and members will renew on the same annual February schedule.

The new system will create one consistent renewal season, reduce barriers for new members with prorated fees, eliminate the 2-month lapse period, align Safeguarding Youth Training with renewal dates, and give unit leaders more control over the renewal process.

The goal is to improve retention, make renewals easier, and strengthen membership growth across Scouting.

The DEC has designated the event a Learn to Fish Day so no permits are required. A limited number of loaner rods will be available to borrow.

The goal for every unit is to recruit 15 new scouts this fall, and with this huge class of 6yr olds, it could be all Tigers!
