At S&S summer is about exploration! New ideas, new hobbies, new beginnings! Make sure you take the time this summer to explore something new!

Our latest trip brought Ehdoh Kyi to the Stax Museum of American Soul Music in Tennessee!

Check out their page and learn some history!

“Stax’s legacy is inextricably tied to Memphis, and more specifically, to Soulsville, the neighborhood where the studio was located. Soulsville is arguably one of the most talent-packed neighborhoods in the world: Aretha Franklin, Memphis Slim, Memphis Minnie and Booker T. Jones all called the neighborhood home, and the neighborhood’s two recording studios – Stax and Royal (home of Hi Records) – produced some of the most beloved music of the last century.

Soulsville’s vibrant, creative community spirit is alive today in the students who attend the Stax Music Academy and The Soulsville Charter School, through the work of the Soulsville Foundation and in the community members who have contributed to the neighborhood’s resurgence.“ (From their website)

Today was the commencement for our Little Founders program at Giffen Elementary School 💚👏🏿

Students presented their final projects, explained their C-Suite roles and got to go home with a Little Founders T-Shirt, designed by our very own Ehdoh Kyi! 🎨

These students works so hard over the past 6 weeks, every session was an opportunity to overcome a challenge, learn how to solve a problem, and develop the skills to run a successful business!

We are grateful to the Little Founders of Giffen Elementary and the Alice Moore Black Arts and Cultural Center for partnering with us in offering this initiative!❤️🖤💚
