As part of the launch of the revised Code of Ethics, NADSP will host a monthly webinar series exploring one tenet at a time. Each 30 minute lunch and learn webinar will be paired with a corresponding article and led by a different member of the NADSP team. Throughout the series, we’ll share practical tips, real-world examples, and ethical dilemmas that show how each tenet can guide everyday direct support practice.

As a DSP, it’s important to ensure an individual being supported is the primary author of their own lives. Person-centered support requires collaboration, creativity, and a healthy dose of curiosity. In this month’s Code of Ethics webinar, we will be discussing the Person-Centered Supports tenet.

John Raffaele joins NextGen Synergy tomorrow for a fireside chat in Celebration of DSP Appreciation!

The conversation will draw on the revised NADSP Code of Ethics which offers DSPs practical guidance for keeping the person—not the diagnosis—at the center of support. It emphasizes getting to know the whole person and understanding how mental health, trauma, communication, relationships, and environment shape their experiences. The Code encourages responding with curiosity instead of assumptions, building trust, and supporting choice, dignity, and self-determination.
