Thanks to Senator Michelle Hinchey for including us in her media coverage. Another important issue we hope to move forward.

New York pet owners could soon see some relief at the checkout line under a proposal in Albany that would eliminate state sales tax on pet food.

❄️ COLD WEATHER PET ALERT ❄️

As temperatures drop, pets cannot survive prolonged exposure to the cold. Bring them inside! A garage, a shed or the porch do not cut it. If you see a pet left outside with no shelter or in distress, call police immediately. That call could save a life.

More great work from one of our members.

On 12/12/25, Lollypop Farm Humane Law Enforcement Officers responded to the following incidents:

- A Penfield resident was charged with animal cruelty stemming from a November incident when it was reported a dog was yanked down a flight of stairs and then kicked in the face. Subsequent to the investigation evidence was developed and the suspect was arrested. The individual charged is pending an initial court appearance in the Town of Penfield Court.

- Assisted the Monroe County Sheriff's Office following an arrest of an individual on a warrant. An aggressive dog belonging to the warrant subject was taken humanely and safely into custody and transported to Lollypop Farm upon request from the Sheriff's Office. This incident highlights the Lollypop Farm's Humane Law Enforcement team's partnership with surrounding law enforcement agencies and their willingness to assist whenever possible.

Lollypop Farm remains dedicated to protecting animals throughout the region and urges
community members to report suspected cases of animal cruelty or neglect by calling
the Humane Law Enforcement line at (585) 223-6500.

Great but very hard work by one of our members,
Columbia Greene Humane Society/SPCA.

: After a disturbing seizure of almost 100 animals in Greene County, Columbia-Greene Humane Society is in "desperate need" of foster homes for 18 Belgian Malinois mixes.

With the Greene County Sheriff's Office, CGHS seized 99 animals from a property on a dead-end road in Athens. Among the animals removed were 18 Belgian Malinois dogs, two cats, and numerous farm animals, including cows, goats, chickens, ducks, and geese. Photos provided to NewsChannel 13 showed multiple emaciated cows.

Anyone interested fostering are encouraged to contact CGHS/SPCA Vice President/Investigator Jessica Farkas at (518) 828-6044 ext. 100 or [email protected]. NewsChannel 13's Benny Nezaj will be on the scene, Live at 4. ➡ wnyt.com/live

Thank you to the ASPCA for all their help. ASPCA Learn is the portal for Standards training. The tools are here and at the NYSAPF Education Fund's website (www.nysapfedfund.org). The standards are about raising the level of care at shelters and rescues across the state. The Federation has spent three years providing free consulting services giving organizations a road map to meet the standards. The ASPCA has been a great partner in this effort providing substantial grants to underwrite this work.

Introduce organizations to a training course in ASPCA Learn that relates to the New York State Companion Animal Care Standards Act.
