Mark your calendars boys and girls! August 30th at the Normanskill farm, 12 noon to 4pm. Our next CDBA meeting will feature the one and only Bryan Salisbury discussing ways to be a successful blacksmith. I can only imagine the wisdom he will bestow upon us! This is going to be special, so don’t miss out on an opportunity to learn from an experienced smith!

Thank you Steve Wayne from Heather’s Heart Forge for a double demo this month. Everyone had a great time and learned a lot. Our next meeting will be August 30th. And we currently have no one lined up for our demonstration. If anyone would be interested, or willing, by all means let me know!

Join us on Sunday July 26th at 12 noon Normanskill farm, for Steve Wayne demonstrating some techniques for making animal heads. Anyone who has ever seen a Steve Wayne demo, you know you won’t want to miss it! We will also be ringing the anvil in Jim’s honor, and anyone who would like to say a few words about Jim, or share a story will be welcomed.

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Jim Moran. Jim was the founder of the CDBA, and dedicated decades of service to teaching young and up and coming blacksmiths, as well as experienced pros. There are few members that haven’t been taught or touched by Jim. He died today at St. Peter’s Hospital. Details aren’t yet released by the family, but will be posted as I get them. Any information on services will be posted as well. After the demonstration at the meeting on the 26th there will be an anvil ringing ceremony in Jim’s honor, and anyone who would like to share any words, stories, or experiences about Jim will be welcomed.

Ok boys and girls, this weekend looks like a fun one! Come to Cooperstown and visit Robert wayman, Eric Radliff, Kyle Heffron, Paul Crosby, and perhaps more CDBA members. Have some great food, watch a performance, and who knows what other surprises Doug Marcaida has up his sleeve. Hope to see you all there!

Sunday the 28th will be our next meeting. It will be at Aggressive Metalworks in Central Bridge, NY. 1485 Grovenors corners Road.
12-4pm. This will be a hands on meeting. No demo, just lots of forge stations for all of your project needs. See you there!
