CSEA-NYS Contract — The Latest
CSEA has reached a tentative contract agreement with New York state covering more than 55,000 state employees. The proposed five-year deal, which runs through April 1, 2031, includes annual salary increases, paid prenatal leave, increased location pay and health insurance improvements that reduce out-of-pocket costs.

The agreement recognizes the essential work of union members and addresses ongoing affordability challenges. Membership is being notified; it must now be reviewed and ratified before taking effect. NEW YORK STATE 2026 ELECTIONS!
Voting is one of the most powerful ways CSEA members can make their voices heard, and 2026 offers several important opportunities to do just that.

In New York, school district elections take place on May 19, when voters help decide school budgets and elect board members who shape the future of public education in their communities.

This is followed by the primary election on June 23, where CSEA-endorsed candidate Tom DiNapoli will face a primary challenge in his bid for re-election, and then the general election on November 3, when CSEA-endorsed candidate Kathy Hochul faces a tough re-election campaign.

CSEA has endorsed many candidates who stand up for workers and public services.

Attention: Local 657 member please save the date July 9th 2026 the CSEA Negotiating Team will be coming to the State Education Department from 12:00 pm until 1:30. If you have any questions for them please come to this meeting on your lunch time. Also please make sure that you update your email address with CSEA Inc on the website. Now listen up members of CSEA LOCAL 657 our upcoming Summer outing is going to be on August 14 at the PAC center where we was last year. I’m awaiting the tickets and flyers to go out but I want you to be sure that you fill out that form that we got from HR requesting the four hours if you don’t fill out a form they’re not gonna honor your time so anybody having a problem with the form let me know if you need help filling it out. I’m only a phone call away. Were gonna have a lot of fun this year so bring your thinking cap for trivia and a-lot of other fun games so wear your sneakers and be ready to jump in and play the games.
We will also be doing raffle ticket so bring your cash And make sure once tickets are out you get them on time. I believe they have a two week cut off period.

Also, if you’re not registered to vote and you’re old enough to register to vote and I’m sure if you work for NYSED you’re old enough to vote so if you need registration, I can sign you up right then and there, so just come to me and let me know. We’re gonna have a lot of vendors there to answer your questions and I advise everyone to participate with Pearl Insurance Members Benifits and all the vendors that are there I do even believe Broadview is gonna be there. I talked to the guy last week so you know he will ne there the partnership also we gotta take advantage of the Csea partnership through our doing a lot of classes to help you advance in your job so show up and give it your best. Message from your President
As I journey once again this year to the coalition of black tree unionist convention better known as CBTU being as being a part of CBTU‘s registration, I was very happy to be able to again this year to help them out with the registration the convention floor was full. We voted for our new CBTU president. Well, not new but our one and only Terry Melvin Terrence Melvin better known as Terry Melvin he is has continued to accept to be our leader for the CBTU international. We had great speakers we had ASFME aPresident Lee Saunders, who spoke about racism and how it affected all of is as working labor people we had other great speakers that came through. It was very educational I wish everyone could get that experience with CBTU. also being a part of the CBTU Int’l Women’s Committee The Luncheon had a great speaker from California .I was glad to be a participant with the women’s luncheon once again. We conducted a workshop for the Women and I was told it was a success. We had a great panel great speakers the participants. The women that showed up for the class. It was great. The members ask the panelist a lot of questions and got answers to most they got referrals for things that they were looking for not only from the panelist, but from members of our women’s committee it was great to see everyone being a participant of the workshop. I just pray that we could do this again next year and be more successful . Also, I was told I was the best seller for raffle tickets for our capital District CBTU.
