The Shire of Ravenwood is currently in dormancy but we are working on bringing it back to full status.
This is the official group for the Shire of Ravenwood and is a private group.
We are a group of like minded individuals who enjoy recreating the better parts of the Middle Ages - 600 to 1600. This is the unofficial page for the Shire Ravenwood - a local group of the Kingdom of Meridies within the Society for Creative Anachronism.
The SCA is dedicated to researching pre-17th-century history through re-creation; our goal is to put into practice the skills of those remarkable times. Throughout the world, members gather at events & meetings to share resources and enthusiasm. Almost every aspect of these ancient times is studied and enacted in Arts & Sciences competitions and martial tournaments. Whether you would become a warrior, scholar or artisan, seeking new friends or seeking activities for the whole family, there is a place for you. The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is a not-for-profit educational organization dedicated to the study of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, with over 50,000 participants worldwide who recreate different aspects of these eras. Members learn about the eras they recreate through research, by wearing the clothing of the time and actually doing the activities, crafts, arts and sciences practiced between 600 and 1600 AD. These include a wide variety of topics: clothing to food to armor and more. Nearly any art or craft that was done during the era is being done by someone in the SCA. The Shire of Ravenwood was formed in 1978. In October of 1979, our branch name was registered in the newly formed Kingdom of Meridies(1978 – -the fifth kingdom formed)
