🇺🇸 FIVE YEARS OF PROGRESS FOR NEW YORK’S VETERANS!

Over the past five years, under Governor Kathy Hochul’s leadership, New York has strengthened its commitment to Veteran su***de prevention and expanded critical supports for Veterans, Service Members and Military Families.

Among the milestones: unprecedented investments in su***de prevention; a historic $1 million investment supporting the Clinicians’ and Healthcare Provider Pocket Card, the Healing Haven for Military Spouses program and implementation of the Community Risk Index Study statewide; the statewide expansion of the Joseph P. Dwyer Peer Support Project, and more mental health services and support.

These efforts represent an important and continuing commitment to protecting lives, strengthening Military Families and ensuring New York is there for All Who Served. 🇺🇸

The Brain Injury Association of New York State is excited to recognize Chris Thomas as the 2026 March On for Brain Injury Rochester Honoree.

A proud Marine, devoted father, and brain injury survivor, Chris's journey is one of incredible strength and perseverance.

After a devastating hit-and-run motorcycle accident left Chris with a fractured skull and traumatic brain injury, his family was told to prepare for the worst. But Chris had other plans.

Through months of rehabilitation, Chris relearned how to sit, swallow, stand, speak, and walk. Today, he continues to navigate permanent physical and cognitive challenges while finding joy in his family, friends, and everyday moments.

Last year, Chris and Catherine joined us for March On and found comfort in a community that understood their journey. This year, Chris is stepping forward as the Rochester Walk Honoree and bringing his team, The Salty Marine, along with him.

This stubborn Marine refused to quit. And he is still moving forward, one step at a time.

Join Chris and Team Salty Marine on September 26 and March On for Brain Injury!
