An update on parking negotiations:
Yesterday our team met with Jo Mackness (Associate Vice Chancellor) and Seamus Wilmot (Director of Parking & Transportation) to negotiate the parking fees.

Jo told us she is looking into potentially subsidizing the parking fees via financial aid with a pot of 200k. We have a team that will have a follow up meeting with her in a few days when there is more info on this possibility.

Seamus said they will not tow and urged us to continue with appeals process. He is open to clearing July and August citations but didn't want to make a decision then.

Last night, our Village Community stood outside the negotiations room with Signs in protest of these parking fees. Then, US villagers voted to go ahead with the follow up meeting with Jo and to CONTINUE to HOLD THE LINE and not pay parking fees OR register for the permit. We urge folks to appeal any new citations 19-20 days AFTER receiving them to maximize the amount of time you have to pay without incurring late fees. And remember if they do not respond to your appeal, you do not have to pay. Thank you for everyone's support, we can't do this without you!

Us Villagers brought UC back to the table. On July 23rd, Jo Mackness and her team left the negotation meeting. Now, on August 13th, from 6 - 7pm, Jo will be meeting with Village Residents to discuss the parking fees proposal we shared with her office on July 24th. Please join us at the Village Ampiether from 5:30pm - 7:30pm for poster-making, food, and a disucsssion and vote following the meeting. Please share with your Village friends and neighbors.
