The Willard Camp based in Albany of the SUVCW, established by the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) to perpetuate the memory of the sacrifices of Union soldiers and sailors during the Civil War. began in Albany,NY with the formation of the Col. t No.1 SV. Following on Christmas Day in 1899 the Ten Eyck Camp was Chartered. The camp number #154 being chosen in memory of the Hard Tack Regiment, the 154th NY Volunteer Infantry
in which Jacob H. Ten Eyck briefly served as Major. In 1993 the camp voted to change its name to the Colonel George L. Willard Camp #154. Willard being considered a local hero, who gave his life in the performance of his duty at Gettysburg at the head of his regiment to the Union and deserving of present day recognition.

3.20.2025 SUVCW Camp # 154 Col. George L. Willard brothers Leo McGuire and Joel Butler present the SUVCW JROTC award to Cadet Marrapodi and the Covell Award to Cadet Comensky. The Covell award is presented jointly by the Sons of the American Revolution Saratoga Battle Chapter and our Camp. It includes a $200.00 cash prize.

Happy Presidents Day! President Chester A Arthur served as Quartermaster General of the New York State Militia during the war and was noted for his logistical prowess having assisted in outfitting the thousands of troops that passed through NYC. He is buried in Albany Rural Cemetery.

12.14.2024 - Col. George L. Willard Camp participated in Wreaths Across America at Albany Rural Cemetery and Oakwood Cemetery. This includes the grave of President Chester Arthur and General Henry Thomas "Rock of Chickamauga.”
