MAJOR news out of Westchester County! County Exec Ken Jenkins has signed two key pieces of legislation that raise the standards across the construction industry and create opportunities for the next generation of skilled workers. The Westchester County Lessor Prevailing Wage Act and the Mandating Apprenticeships in County Projects Act ensure workers are compensated fairly for the critical work they perform, and apprenticeship requirements help open doors for local residents to start meaningful, family-sustaining careers.

The construction of JFK Terminal One is a historic job that members of locals 731, Laborers Local 1010 Laborers Local 79 - New York City, 78, 6a, 18a, and 20 have dutifully reported to since the terminal’s inception. For our members, it’s more than a line on a resume. It’s a family-supporting paycheck, an opportunity to flex their elite skillset and a career-defining moment that forever changes the global transportation landscape.

JFK New Terminal One is a shining example of LIUNA brothers and sisters joining with first-in-class partner AECOM Tishman to become an absolute FORCE. Today, LIUNA GST Michael Sabitoni, LIUNA VP and LIUNA New England Regional Manager Donato A. Bianco, Jr. and LIUNA VP and LiUNA Eastern Region Regional Manager Michael Hellstrom toured the progress at JFK Terminal One and thanked the hardworking union members building this iconic global gateway!

Our union believes in contributing to the vibrancy and success of the communities our members live and work in, and supporting children’s programs such as the South End Children's Cafe is particularly important to us. GST Michael Sabitoni and LIUNA VP and LIUNA New England Regional Manager Donato A. Bianco, Jr. were honored to visit the Cafe kids and tour their special space - AND let them know LIUNA would be sponsoring their summer camp scholarships.
