As Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close, we're proud to recognize the hardworking men and women who bring their culture, dedication, and pride to LIUNA every day!

Meet Carlos Holguin, a proud member of Local 731, who shares what his Colombian roots, family, and union career mean to him.

The NYS Health & Safety Team and Local 60 were proud to once again support an event that brings people together around the importance of safety on the job!!

It was also a special day for Local 60 as Samantha Chiaro-Adams was recognized for her work on a major project in Putnam County.

Congratulations on the well-deserved recognition, and thank you to everyone who helped make another great Safety Day possible!💪 👏

Out on the job at the Excelsior Energy Center in the Town of Byron!

The $345 million, 280-megawatt solar farm is currently under development in Genesee County, with NextEra Energy Resources and Blattner Energy helping move the project forward.

The NYS Laborers Health & Safety team was onsite for Su***de Prevention Month, speaking with the men and women on the job about the importance of mental health. Local 435 Business Agent Rafael Garcia also joined the visit to support our Laborers and spend time with the workforce.

It was a great day getting out on the job, connecting with our members, and reminding everyone to look out for their brothers and sisters! 💪💪

The New York State Public Service Commission has granted Propel NY Energy approval of a “certificate of environmental compatibility and public need,” that advances the project to the construction planning and ex*****on phase. We thank all of our elected officials that have supported this critical investment in our energy infrastructure and jobs.

LIUNA showed up strong at Unadilla 2026! 🏁

More than 100 LIUNA members from 18 Locals across 9 states and provinces came together at Unadilla Motocross, joining more than 200 union tradesworkers representing 15 trades.

It was a great weekend showcasing the strength, skill, and solidarity of union labor both on and off the track.💪

Taking care of our own is and always will be priority one. That’s why when the Building & Construction Trades Council of Greater New York, in conjunction with the Cornell Worker Institute and New York Building Foundation, launched a peer-to-peer support program designed to reduce su***de rates in the unionized construction industry our union immediately hit the ground running. The curriculum, created in collaboration with the Building & Construction Trades Council of Greater New York and Member Assistance Program directors (many of whom are members of Labor Assistance Professionals), is building a network of rank-and-file Peer Supporters throughout the trades who are trained to offer support on job sites, conduct risk assessment during conversations, and refer members to MAP Directors to begin counseling or other care measures.

We’re extremely proud to announce that has several newly minted Peer Supporters and trainers. The certified members from Locals 731, 147, the Concrete Workers District Council (6a, 18a, 20), 1010, 78, 79 and 66 and will undoubtedly make a significant positive impact as they utilize their skills to assist members who may be struggling. Congratulations graduates – and thank you.

September 10 is World Su***de Prevention Day. But let's work together to make sure we're doing our part to look out for our brothers and sisters on the job every day.

🔸 Check in like you mean it. A simple "Hey - you good? I'm worried about you." can be the difference between life and death.

🔸 Break the cycle of "just suck it up." Talk about it. Listen. Encourage a brother or sister to get help if they need it.

🔸 Know the signs - changes in behavior, missing work, loss of interest, talk of being a burden...if you see it, take action.

🔸 Take action for YOURSELF. If you're hurting, tell someone.

You matter. Reach out.
