At last week's meeting, Doug Lorber introduced, on behalf of Price Corr, Dr. Doug Patten, Campus Associate Dean for the Southwest Campus of the Medical College of Georgia Southwest Clinical Campus. Dr. Patten, former Chief Medical Officer for the Georgia Hospital Association, oversees faculty recruitment, supports students during their third and fourth years of medical school, and serves as an advocated for students representing MCG in Southwest Georgia. Dr. Patten played an integral role in the development of MCG’s Southwest Campus in Albany, MCG’s first regional campus, which is based at Phoebe Putney Health Systems. He emphasized the importance of the Albany campus in exposing medical students to the opportunities and rewards of practicing in rural and smaller communities throughout Southwest Georgia. He praised Price for his many years as physician and recruiting new physicians to practice in rural areas. Thanks to Price for coordinating our program.
