🎶 A heartfelt thank you and farewell from the entire Albany Music community to our amazing AHS and AMS choir teacher, Kate Huizinga!

After five incredible years, Kate is wrapping up her time in Albany, and headed back to graduate school. From navigating the challenges of re-entry after virtual learning and masked singing, to leading choir tours to LA, supporting so many students in honor choirs, a top finish at Golden State, delivering a featured performance at CASMEC, and earning the well-deserved honor of CMEA Bay Section's Outstanding Choral Educator — Kate has been an extraordinary teacher, leader, and colleague every step of the way.

She's now off to pursue her Master's degree in Choral Conducting at Michigan State University, and we couldn't be more excited for her next chapter.

We will miss you dearly, Kate!!

🎶 A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to Yoshi's Oakland last night to support our amazing student musicians! The AMS Jazz Band, led by Mr. Dandelet, and the AHS Jazz Lab & Jazz Band, led by Mr. Bryant, put on an incredible show . We are so proud of these talented students and grateful they have this opportunity to perform at such an iconic venue. 🎷🎺🎹

The combined AMS and AHS Band and Orchestra trip is off to a great start! Many thanks to our friends at Livermore High School for hosting our exchange concert. We had outstanding workshops for all students today at Cal State Fullerton.

The annual suggested donation is $400 per student for middle and high school and $200 per student for elementary school. Every contribution makes a difference! Whether you donate, share, or spread the word — it all counts. Did you know we've already spent 20k on sheet music across all schools, or that choir and band T-shirts purchased by AMF total about $7,500 each school year? Buses that take our high schoolers to competitions and festivals average $1000 per trip. That new tuba? Close to 5k! Elementary school musical rights to Annie? $800!
