Albany Music Fund is an all volunteer organization formed to support and fundraise for music in the Albany, Calif., public schools.

Albany Music Fund supports vocal and instrumental music programs at every grade level in the AUSD. We succeed through the participation of volunteer parent and student leaders, dedicated music teachers, and the many Albany family and community supporters who give generously of their time and money. We believe music is a fundamental element of the Albany public school curriculum with unique benefits for students. We are determined that every child should have access to a quality education in music. AMF supports the preservation and enhancement of instrumental and vocal music in Albany schools by:

-Funding the purchase and repair of musical instruments
-Purchase of instructional materials and sheet music
-Assisting with funding for travel to competitions
-Providing general stewardship of music program

We'd like to extend a warm welcome to our new Director of Choirs for 6-12th grades, Cristiana Franzetti!

Cristiana is a music educator, vocalist, and arranger from Southern California. She started her career as a classical singer and received Bachelor's Degrees in both Vocal Performance and Music Education from Chapman University. There, she began directing small ensembles specializing in jazz, musical theater, and contemporary a ca****la music. Through those experiences, she realized her love for teaching and attended California State University, Fullerton where she earned her Teaching Credential in Music and, later, the Longy School of Music earning a Masters in Music Education. Before coming to Albany, Cristiana was the choir and musical theater director Chico High School and Pleasant Valley High School in Chico, California and the Choir and Music Industry director at Edison High School in Huntington Beach. She is excited to be part of the Albany community and to help her students realize their unique musical potential and showcase their work throughout the community.

Again, welcome Cristiana! We are so excited to have you join the music program!

A big thank-you to everyone who came out to the Albany Vocal Music Ashkanez Coffeehouse shows over the past two weeks. The shows were so much fun, and our middle and high school students were incredibly impressive!

We’d also like to give a warm welcome to our new Director of Choirs, Cristiana Franzetti! More about her coming soon!

🎶 WELCOME BACK, ALBANY MUSIC FAMILIES! 🎶

If you’ve supported AMF before, thank you! If you haven’t yet, this is a great time to get involved — we need your help more than ever.

🎵 Where does your support go?
AMF covers many of the costs that aren’t covered by the district. Last year alone, we spent:
• $50,000+ on new instruments
• $20,000+ on sheet music and licensing
• $20,000+ on transportation

We also pay for music festival registration, T-shirts and performance attire, and support elementary school musical theater. Basically, AMF helps cover everything except teacher salaries.

🎶 What a year! 🎶

As the 2025–26 school year comes to a close, everyone at the Albany Music Fund is filled with gratitude for our outstanding teachers, talented students, supportive families, and generous community.

🎵 Some highlights from this year:

⭐ Elementary students performed in musicals, learned ukulele, sang at the AUSD Elementary Choir Festival, and represented Albany in the OAKE National Honor Choir in Chicago.

⭐ Albany Middle School students earned honors at the state, regional, and national levels, received Superior ratings at festivals, hosted a sold-out Coffeehouse event, attended music camp, and even recorded music together. Band and orchestra students also earned top honors, including performances at Disney Recording Studios.

⭐ Albany High School music students continued their tradition of excellence with numerous Superior and Unanimous Superior ratings, sold-out performances, honor choir selections, festival awards, and tours throughout California. Congratulations also to Craig Bryant, recipient of the CMEA Outstanding Band Educator Award, and to Kate Huizinga for her Outstanding Choral Educator recognition.

None of this happens without community support.

While we have accomplished so much this year, we are still about 15% short of our annual fundraising goal. AMF funds instruments, sheet music, transportation, festivals, performance opportunities, and so much more. (The district pays teachers' salaries—AMF funds the rest!)

📅 Our fiscal year ends June 30, and there’s still time to help us finish strong.

🎶 A heartfelt thank you and farewell from the entire Albany Music community to our amazing AHS and AMS choir teacher, Kate Huizinga!

After five incredible years, Kate is wrapping up her time in Albany, and headed back to graduate school. From navigating the challenges of re-entry after virtual learning and masked singing, to leading choir tours to LA, supporting so many students in honor choirs, a top finish at Golden State, delivering a featured performance at CASMEC, and earning the well-deserved honor of CMEA Bay Section's Outstanding Choral Educator — Kate has been an extraordinary teacher, leader, and colleague every step of the way.

She's now off to pursue her Master's degree in Choral Conducting at Michigan State University, and we couldn't be more excited for her next chapter.

We will miss you dearly, Kate!!
