Afterschool University will be opening as AU Extension over the next week at University Village for K-5th Graders.
Led by our Afterschool University team, this new program is tailored to today's needs and covid-related policies. The new program will consist of in-person stable pods with several options that work with current distance learning schedules.
AU Extension Options:
Programs will run in 3-week sessions with priority given to current students for continuation into the next session.
8:30am-2:00pm: $220/Week
(Laptop Required for distance learning)
8:30am-4:30pm: $320/Week
(Laptop Required for distance learning)
8:30am-6:00pm: $375/Week
(Laptop Required for distance learning)
2:00pm-6:00pm: $160/Week
University policy dictates that these pods are open only to UC Berkeley Affiliates. Affiliates include families of UC Berkeley staff, UC Berkeley students and University Village Residents.
Unfortunately, we will be unable to admit everyone and registration will be by invitation only.

Safety Measures:
Pod-based enrichment program.
Pods: 8-14 students, 1-2 instructors.
Each pod will have its own independent space with no mixing between pods.
Program will consist of tutoring, projects and outdoor activities.
State guidelines require children 2 years old and higher to wear masks. Children with certain
medical conditions are exempt from this mandate.
Waivers and daily wellness checks for all students.
All children will be directed and reminded to wash hands after each restroom use.
Dropoff/Pickup will be done outdoors.
Staff Training
All employees receive training on health and safety protocols.

Proper Sanitation - demonstration and practice of proper cleaning and sanitation Emergency Procedures - walk-thru of Emergency Drills with physical distancing
Facility Signage
Physical distance protocol posted at all entrances (facility, offices, activity spaces) Operational signage detailing mitigation protocols including face coverings, hand washing, and physical distancing requirements posted throughout the facility.
Posted building flow charts at all entrances and exits.
Cleaning and Disinfection
Facilities will ensure proper cleaning and disinfection utilizing current staff assigned to the Community Center.
Daily cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces and objects and frequently touched areas such as doorknobs, light switches, countertops, tables, chairs, storage bins and shelves. Published daily cleaning schedule posted and adhered to.
Health and Wellness
Face Coverings: All staff will be required to wear a face mask. Youth Participants are not required to wear a face covering each day, but will be highly encouraged to wear one. All staff must pass a daily symptom screener prior to beginning shift.
Daily Staff Symptom Checks: All Employees and Participants are required to pass a simple symptom check prior to coming to property.
Visitors, General Public, and Non-program personnel: prohibited during program hours without pre-authorization and clearance.
