💃 Are you ready to dance the day (or night) away? We are 1 month away from starting our new dance series, Salsa: Movement, Music, and Connection! These senior accessible dance classes are open to anyone and designed for all experience levels.

✨ This class introduces foundational salsa steps at a comfortable pace while encouraging personal expression, musicality, and connection through movement. Participants will explore rhythm, style, and the expressive qualities of salsa while building confidence in their own movement. Alongside its artistic focus, the class also supports balance, coordination, and overall well-being in a fun and supportive environment that fosters both creativity and community.

✨ What a wonderful evening celebrating the opening of the 26th Annual Southwest Georgia Regional Fine Art Exhibition & Sale!

🏛️ Our gallery was filled with incredible artwork, meaningful conversations, and a community that continues to demonstrate just how much the arts matter in Southwest Georgia. We are deeply grateful to the artists who shared their creativity and entrusted us with their work. Every piece in this exhibition represents dedication, courage, and a unique creative voice, and it is an honor to share that work with our community.

🎨 Thank you to our juror, Laurel Robinson, for lending her time and expertise to this year's exhibition, and thank you to our members, volunteers, sponsors, board of directors, and supporters who help make programs like this possible. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the City of Albany for its ongoing support of the Albany Area Arts Council and the historic Carnegie Library.

🧑‍🎨 Most of all, thank you to everyone who joined us for an evening celebrating the remarkable talent that exists right here in our region. The exhibition remains on view through July 15, and many of the works are available for purchase.

🏛️ Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, noon–4:00 p.m. If those hours don't work for you, please call to schedule an appointment for another time.

✨ We hope you'll visit the exhibition, discover a new favorite artist, and continue supporting the creative community that makes Southwest Georgia such a vibrant place to live, work, and create.

Only 24 Carnegie Libraries were built in the State of Georgia. This example comes from Albany and was built in 1906. It is now home to the Albany Arts Council.

I will be out of town this week and taking a break from new posts. New posts resume on June 15!
