Have a research idea you’ve been wanting to explore? SPA Grants provide funding to support research that advances the science and practice of personality assessment.

Three opportunities are available:
• Dissertation Grant – up to $800
• Student Research Grant – up to $500
• EISJ Grant – $500–$10,000

SPA’s Mary S. Cerney Student Paper Award recognizes students whose work is making an impact on the field.

The award is given annually to the best student paper on an aspect of personality assessment, with eligible papers first-authored by a student at the time the work was completed and published within the past year.

Shame can be a powerful driver of symptoms and interpersonal difficulties, yet it is often overlooked or misunderstood in assessment and case conceptualization.

Join Dr. Julie Cradock O’Leary for the first webinar in SPA Grand Rounds Season 3, where she’ll explore how shame manifests, the defenses used to manage it, and how the Thurston Cradock Test of Shame (TCTS) can help uncover dynamics that may otherwise remain hidden.

Through a clinical case example, attendees will see how TCTS scoring and interpretation can bring underlying shame dynamics into focus and inform clinical understanding and intervention.

JPA Editor Applications Due August 23!

The Society for Personality Assessment is seeking applications for the next Editor of the Journal of Personality Assessment (JPA).

This is an opportunity to help shape the future of SPA’s flagship journal and contribute to the continued advancement of personality assessment research, theory, and practice.

The new Editor’s five-year renewable term begins January 1, 2027, following a transition period beginning in October.

Applications are due August 23 and should include:
• A current CV
• A statement of 500 words or fewer outlining your vision for the future of JPA
