Black Women's Association of Albany

Black Women's Association of Albany The Black Women's Association of Albany is a locally based group of women of color who focus on community service and scholarships.

The Black Women's Association of Albany (BWAA) was founded on September 21, 1977 by a group of women, many who were not native Albanians. The purpose was to stimulate political and social awareness, encourage cultural growth, help youth realize their full potential through education and serve as positive role models for African American women. After a period of inactivity, the BWAA reorganized in the spring of 2004 and will continue its service to the greater Capital District community.
