ALDONYS wishes to share their sincerest condolences to the family of Susan Nash. Susan was our friend, one of our supporters, several of us used her services & when she came to our meetings or social events she was a ray of sunshine. May she rest in peace.

Today and always, may we honor the heroes of 9/11 & mourn the senseless lives lost.

This is a solemn day for many. ALDONYS hopes that everyone will take a break from their busy day to take time to remember the many lives that were taken on September 11, 2001. We also ask that you honor the police, fire fighters, all 1st responders and countless others that were selfless & helped to save the lives of so many innocent people. They are true heroes, professionals, our brothers & sisters. Thank you.

To the Members of ALDONYS,

I write to you today with a heavy heart and a deep sense of urgency following the tragic and senseless killing of Security Guard Aland Etienne, who was gunned down while on duty at 345 Park Avenue in Manhattan on July 28, 2025.

Aland was doing exactly what thousands of guards across New York do every single day—standing post, keeping the peace, and protecting lives and property. He was unarmed. He was working. And he was murdered.

His death is not only heartbreaking—it is unacceptable.

As members of ALDONYS, we represent the leadership of New York’s security industry. We are the employers, trainers, and advocates for the men and women who protect this city and state around the clock, often in high-risk environments and with minimal recognition or protection.

This isn’t just about one tragic event—it’s a wake-up call. We must take a hard look at the conditions under which we deploy our guards. Are we giving them the tools, the training, the authority, and the support they need to stay alive on post? Are we doing enough to demand real legislative protections for our workforce? Are we pushing hard enough for clear guidelines around dangerous posts, escalation protocols, and site accountability?

Aland Etienne was killed while guarding a high-profile Midtown building. That alone should send shockwaves through every firm in this state. If it can happen there, it can happen anywhere.

To Aland’s family, we offer our heartfelt condolences. To his coworkers and peers, we say this plainly: we see you, we value you, and we will fight to ensure your safety is never an afterthought.

In solidarity and resolve,

Mark A. Garner
