Scandal and intrigue! Frédéric Chaudière will be presenting at our 2026 VSA Convention in Cleveland, November 15–20, recounting the exciting history of the 1713 Gibson Stradivari violin, currently played by Joshua Bell.

On February 28, 1936, the instrument was stolen from Carnegie Hall during a recital by Polish virtuoso Bronisław Huberman. Despite a $2,500 reward, the violin vanished completely for years and years. And then ….

What slowly emerged about the tale will surprise everyone.

Thanks to his research, court rulings and unique documents in his possession, Frédéric Chaudière will tell us how the Gibson emerged from the dark after being hidden for 5 decades by the thief.
