The Foundation is dedicated to the discovery of the true nature of humanity. We offer weekly discussion groups and the opportunity to learn meditation. Discussion material centers on the great teachings of the East and West and draws in particular from the tradition of Advaita (the philosophy of unity). The focus is on how these teachings can be made real and practical in our daily lives.

Meditation is not about effort. It’s about ease.

There’s no need to concentrate or control the mind. The mantra is simply a tool — gently guiding awareness inward. From there, the mind knows how to rest.

Thoughts come and go — just like waves.

Meditation isn’t about holding onto the calm or pushing thoughts away. It’s about allowing both to rise and fall naturally. With time, the mind learns how to settle on its own.

On this Earth Day, I hope you had the chance to step outside, slow down, and feel the ground beneath your feet.

There’s something restorative about connecting with nature in its simplest form. The warmth of the sun, the rhythm of the breeze, the quiet beneath it all.

In those moments, stress softens… and we return to a more natural state of ease.

Meditations is one of my favorite books. It has been a trusted companion for many years. What is your favorite Marcus Aurelius quote?

This week, we mark the upcoming anniversary of the birth of Marcus Aurelius, born on 26 April 121 CE.

Both a Roman Emperor and a philosopher, he remains one of the most influential figures in Stoicism. His work, Meditations, continues to stand as a seminal text in philosophy. That his words still resonate, 1905 years later, is a testament to their power and meaning.

Meditations, originally conceived as his private notes, offers a rare insight into how he sought to put his ideas on Stoicism, ethics, and rationality into practice, striving to live with clarity of mind.

Students in the the School around the world are so often involved in such interesting things. I’ve had the privilege and pleasure of meeting Verena. Her work is truly beautiful. It’s amazing what the power of attention can do in one’s life!
