Join us this Thursday for the third session of our Community Care Wellness Workshop: Channeling
Stress into Artful Practices!
Through a collective meditation workshop, we'll explore the healing power of the lotus, a sacred symbol for transforming suffering into freedom.
The lotus sprouts in the muddy sediment in lakes and ponds and grows through murky water to blossom into a beautiful flower. During this session we will explore how the teaching of the lotus can help us grow through these murky times we live in.
We will practice 3 different types of meditation in short periods and have space to discuss what comes up for us. Open to folks of all identities and any level of experience with meditation.
Facilitated by Damaris miller (they/ them) is an educator and community organizer committed to creating spaces of rest and transformation, especially for Black, Indigenous and other People of Color, Q***r and Trans folks, and activists. They have been hosting healing circles and retreats for over 12 years, focusing on using the tools of meditation, deep listening, storytelling, singing and movement for both personal and collective healing and transformation. They believe deeply in the power of communal rest and practice to collectively transform the obstacles that prevent us from being whole. Damaris comes to this work grounded in breath, Buddhist teachings and practice, and guidance from the earth and ancestors.
This is a free event; donations will be appreciated. Light refreshments will be available.
