The Pratimokṣa is a list of rules governing the behaviour of Buddhist monastics. Prati means "towards" and mokṣa means "liberation" from cyclic existence. It became customary to recite the 227 rules.
This week we hosted the secret service at our LP Chalee Hermitage. The monks are from several temples in Oregon and Washington.

- LP Chalee has been successfully evacuated from his riverside tree house to a safer inland kuthi due to flood risks from heavy rain and rising river levels. His cooperation highlights a pragmatic approach to safety, which sets a positive example for the community.

2. **Community Engagement**:
- By relocating, LP Chalee ensures that devotees can continue visiting and offering meals without safety concerns. This maintains spiritual and communal practices, reinforcing trust in his leadership and the sangha’s adaptability.

3. **Temporary Relocation**:
- The move is temporary, pending the subsidence of floodwaters (estimated at a few weeks). Monitoring water levels and weather forecasts will be critical to determining a safe return date.
