The Moving Message Fund was started in 2010 to provide funding for individuals post stroke and brain injury who need ongoing speech therapy, group therapy, communication devices, e-readers, and/or communication apps. Insurance doesn’t pay for these services or many of the devices and most people cannot afford to privately pay. The Fund provides financial assistance to those who seek to continue to participate in a meaningful life.

To raise money for the Fund, we hold an annual event in September. This is a 1-mile walk, and festival geared toward raising awareness about neurogenic communication disorders and raising money for the Moving Message Fund. There will be motivating speeches, suggestions for how to support communication, stories of those who have had a stroke or brain injury, vendors, artists, raffles, music, food, kids activities, and much more.

This year’s event is Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 11am – 2pm on the Albany Campus Quad at Russell Sage (will be moved to The Armory in the event of rain).

We would like to invite you to set up a booth at our upcoming 2nd Annual Moving Message Walk held on Saturday, September 12th from 11 am - 2 pm, on the quad of the Albany campus of Russel Sage College. You will be provided with a table, two chairs, and significant space to set up your booth. You can bring additional tables and a tent if you’d like. The cost of a booth is $25. Vendors selling their personal art can pay the $25 booth fee, but also have the choice of donating a piece of their art to the raffle or 10% of their proceeds for the day instead. Sign up and send in your logo by 9/1/26 so your logo can be added to the event t-shirt and your website can be linked on our website.

The 1-mile optional walk is a festival and fundraiser celebrating people who have stroke, brain injury, and other neurological conditions leading to communication challenges. There will be speeches, vendors, artists, music, food, raffles and activities for the kiddos. Vendors are essential to increasing awareness of what supports and resources are available.

All funds raised will go toward The Moving Message, a fund developed to support people post stroke and brain injury, who need ongoing speech therapy, group therapy, communication devices, e-readers, and apps for their phones and tablets. While insurance may cover immediate short-term therapy, they do not cover long-term needs.
