Albany Civic Theater is proud to present local playwright Mark Dalton’s play Exit Wounds at our annual Playwright’s Showcase on Sunday, August 2 at 3 PM.

Exit Wounds masterfully confronts the topic of gun violence as it presents us with the tense, gut-wrenching reunion of Alex and Gabe inside the visiting room of a New York State prison. This is the first time that these two men, once childhood friends, have met since Alex murdered eight people in a school shooting that left lone survivor Gabe with physical – and emotional – scars. Over the course of a single conversation, the two navigate remorse, trauma, identity, and the difficult question of what redemption might look like after an act of unspeakable violence.

The play explores psychological excavation with sharp, dark humor as Gabe and Alex push each other toward uncomfortable truths. Exit Wounds is both a confrontation and a reckoning—an exploration of survival, guilt, and the potential to change.

Auditions for Parallel Lives!

Albany Civic Theater is excited to announce auditions for Parallel Lives, the first production of their 2026-27 season, on Monday, June 8 and Tuesday, June 9, starting at 6:30 PM each evening. The production will be directed by Amanda Dorman.

Parallel Lives is a comedy written by Kathy Najimy and Mo Gaffney for the two of them to perform. Made up of 18 vignettes of two women scenes, this cast will be expanded to 5 actresses. Everyone will be playing multiple roles of distinctly different characters.

For the audition, performers will be reading from the script. The director is looking for strong distinct choices and the ability to embody different characters.

Show dates are Fri 9/18-Sun 10/4/2026, with Friday and Saturday shows at 7:30 PM and Sunday matinees at 3:00 PM. The rehearsal schedule will begin the last week in June and will be based on selected actresses’ schedules and conflicts.
