Delmar’s first Repair Café was such a success that they’ve decided to do it again! 🎉

We at Albany Foundation LOVE this! ❤️ It means more community members are joining the movement to repair, reuse, and keep beloved items out of our landfills.

🔧 The next Bethlehem Repair Café will be held Sunday, August 30th, from 1–4 PM at:

📍 Bethlehem Town Hall Auditorium
445 Delaware Avenue

Community volunteers will be on hand to help repair neighbors’ broken-but-beloved items, including bikes, lamps, toasters, computers, blenders, furniture, fabric, and more. There will also be tool sharpening available!

Preservation Merit Award Spotlight: 376-378 Broadway,
McGreevy ProLab & ProPress
Main Street Award

We know having a business on a main street is not often easy. There is so much pressure to move to more suburban areas with large parking lots and more foot traffic with people intent on shopping. Urban commercial corridors are the backbone of our neighborhoods and heart of Downtown. HAF feels strongly that projects that preserve and show commitment to our historic commercial corridors deserve recognition.

McGreevy ProLab ProPress has been a stalwart presence on south Broadway (newly christened SoBro for those in the know) for decades in its 1849 building with a notably 1950s storefront. For those of you who notice little details, that's one year after the Fire of 1848 wiped out 37 acres in downtown Albany, including the building that previously sat at 376-387 Broadway.

HAF has been excited to watch McGreevy's turn back the clock, restoring the dated updated storefront by going back to its roots while breathing a bit more life into their block of Broadway. The facade of 376-378 Broadway was brought back toward its original appearance with a more period appropriate storefront and provided much needed repairs to the brickwork, windows, lintels and cornice. The design was based on historic photographs of the building which complements the historic nature of the block and brings greater visibility to their storefront with increased awareness and business. The restored storefront made room for a gallery space on the first floor to add a little something more to the neighborhood. Also discovered in historic photos was a wrought iron balustrade across the second floor which was recreated as a part of the project. The restoration also included the restoration of the windows, repointing the facade, and repairs to the cornice.

Efforts like this help our historic commercial corridors thrive. The "new" McGreevy's is already making SoBro a little brighter and a little busier. We can't wait to see it every day as neighbors.

Join us in celebrating 376-378 Broadway along with the entire Class of 2026 Thursday, September 24th from 5:30 to 7pm for the 2026 Preservation Merit Award Ceremony & Annual Meeting at the Love Albany Center, 8 Kate Street.

What a blast Historic Albany Foundation had yesterday afternoon with the Albany Waterway Canal Project!

Pam and Julianna spent the day as real-life archaeologists, getting their hands dirty and taking part in the Big Dig! Then, later that evening, HAF members were treated to a special members-only, behind-the-scenes tour and lecture.

It was an incredible opportunity to experience Albany’s history firsthand—literally digging into the past and learning more about the stories beneath our feet!
