Albany's Community Christmas Tree celebration is right around the corner, and we need Holiday Helpers to make two of our favorite downtown Albany Christmas traditions a success!

Twice Around Christmas Parade in Downtown Albany

Our Holiday Helpers will be the friendly faces behind the festivities! Whether you're helping direct traffic, answering questions, welcoming guests, or keeping lines organized, every volunteer plays a part in bringing the Christmas magic to life.

It's a wonderful way to give back to our community, spread some holiday cheer, and be part of something special right here in Albany, Oregon.

🏴‍☠️ Ahoy, me hearties!

Today be the day ye can ARRRRR all ye want — and with a bit of a bite in the sea air, ye might even want to don yer favorite ARRRRgyle sweater. 😂

But did ye know International Talk Like a Pirate Day was created right here in Albany, Oregon?

The parodic holiday was dreamed up in 1995 by Albany friends John Baur (“Ol’ Chumbucket”) and Mark Summers (“Cap’n Slappy”) during a racquetball game. What began as an inside joke eventually caught the attention of nationally syndicated humor columnist Dave Barry — and from there, this bit of Albany silliness sailed out into the world. 🌎🏴‍☠️

And today, ye can celebrate right here in the port where it all began!

⚓️ Set sail for the Historic Carousel & Museum for a day of yarrs and swashbuckling. Come dressed as a pirate and receive a free ride card!

Thank you to everyone who joined us, volunteered, supported the evening, and continues to invest their time, talent, energy, and heart in Downtown Albany. Congratulations to all of our 2026 award recipients! 💚

Downtown Albany’s hanging flower baskets have been glorious all summer—but now it’s time to bring them down, and we could use a few extra hands!
