Sea Scout Ship 1415 is underway on another long cruise. They plan to be out for 18 days this year!

Ship 1415 long cruise 2025 is under way! We took a short hop from Albany to Waterford through the federal lock at Troy today. We had great time grilling burgers on the free dock at Waterford and had nice visit with some of the skipper’s family. Tomorrow we push North to Fort Edward.

We motored our way from Beacon down to Croton/Haverstraw Bay yesterday. We had to pick our way through some dicey weather but had good views of Bannerman Castle, World’s End and West Point. We also passed the Clearwater as she was headed north.

Overnight we had some more storms and are feeling a bit soggy this morning but we are up and ready for a long push south to Lady Liberty today! Look for us on EarthCam’s NYC/Liberty Island web cams later this afternoon.

We are aboard “Dark Star” a 50’ wooden sailing vessel. She’s a yawl (two masts) with brown hull and tan trim. And we are flying our Sea Scout flag (red and blue) from the forestay.
