At FASCETS, we believe in a different way of supporting individuals with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) and other brain-based disabilities - one that is consistent with research on the brain, and that has been shown to improve outcomes.

Brain‑based differences are physical, invisible differences with behavioral symptoms.
Traditional behavior strategies target the symptoms.
The Neurobehavioral Approach recognizes the source.

When we reframe behavior through a brain‑based lens, everything shifts—expectations, support, outcomes.
It’s not about trying harder.
It’s about understanding the brain and aligning the environment.

Best practice is shifting from symptoms to source.
And it works.

FASCETS is excited to be part of the 2026 Schild Nicholson Neurodiversity Lecture on May 29 at Oregon State University—a day dedicated to deepening our collective understanding of brain‑based differences.

✨ Featured Lecture (Noon–1 p.m.)
Dr. Susan Stoner, Endowed Professor of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders at the Addictions, Drug, and Alcohol Institute within the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington School of Medicine will share new research exploring how prenatal alcohol exposure shapes brain health, cognition, and wellbeing into midlife, reinforcing what we know: FASD is lifelong and whole‑person.

🌱 FASCETS Workshop (1:30–3:30 p.m.)
FASCETS will lead a hands‑on workshop introducing the FASCETS Neurobehavioral Approach, originally developed for individuals with FASD and now life‑changing for people with a wide range of brain-based differences.

This approach centers compassion, reduces frustration, and strengthens relationships—at home, in schools, and across communities.

📍 Hallie E. Ford Center (HFC) 115 in the College of Health (COH) at Oregon State University (OSU)+ Zoom

How would our communities change if every individual—especially the neurodivergent ones—had a judgment‑free zone to grow into who they are?

From the kid who can’t decode classroom expectations, to the parent judged in the grocery store, to the professional who becomes the “last stop” when nothing else works—so many people are carrying invisible stories. When we make room for brain differences, creativity blooms, relationships deepen, and families find hope again.

What happens when we stop asking, “Why won’t you behave?” and start asking, “What’s happening for you?”

One family discovered the FASCETS Neurobehavioral Approach through a neighbor. Instead of doubling down on consequences, they got curious. They explored supports, shifted expectations, and created spaces where each child could thrive. The result wasn’t perfection— it was connection, understanding, and a home where strengths lead the way.

Walk away with the confidence to make accommodations that reduce conflict, increase connection, and make daily life easier!

Most trainings give you strategies.
FASCETS gives you a paradigm shift.

Because strategies alone don’t work when the lens is wrong.

If you’re supporting someone with brain‑based differences, you’ve probably tried a dozen tools, tips, and techniques. Some help for a moment. Many don’t. And you’re left wondering why nothing sticks.

The truth?
You can’t solve a neurobehavioral challenge with a behavioral approach.

FASCETS training doesn’t hand you a list of strategies — it gives you a completely different way of understanding what you’re seeing.
A way that explains the “why.”
A way that reduces frustration.
A way that finally fits the brain in front of you.

If you’re ready for clarity instead of confusion, and compassion instead of burnout, our next training is open for registration.

đź“… Thursdays, May 21 - June 18, 2026
⏰ 10:30am–1:30pm Pacific / 1:30pm–4:30pm Eastern

This series offers hope and practical tools for anyone supporting individuals with brain-based differences, including FASD, ADHD, autism, traumatic brain injury, and more.

You’ll gain new understanding, compassionate strategies, and approaches that truly make a difference. You’ll leave with tools that reduce frustration and increase success for everyone involved.

What if the way we’ve been taught to “parent well” doesn’t actually match how some brains work?

May and June often spotlight moms and dads, but they also highlight the many ways people parent across cultures, communities, and neurotypes. For those who experience the world differently—or love someone who does—the journey can feel both beautiful and brutal. At FASCETS, we honor the caregivers, neighbors, teachers, and professionals who keep showing up, even when traditional strategies fall short. There is a brain-based path to flourishing.
