We Are Revolutionary Announces Updated Leadership Structure

Over the past couple of weeks, We Are Revolutionary has been strengthening our internal systems and fine-tuning our leadership structure as we continue to stabilize and grow.

As our organization evolves, so does our team.
Starting over the next couple of weeks, we’ll begin launching We Are Revolutionary chapters in Troy and Schenectady, expanding our organizing model across New York’s Capital Region.

These changes reflect our commitment to putting people where they can make the greatest impact and continuing to build leadership from within our communities.

We believe the people closest to the issues are the people closest to the solutions. That’s why peer advocacy remains at the heart of our work. Our team is made up of directly impacted leaders committed to helping build safer, healthier communities through healing, organizing, and collective action.

As we grow, our mission remains the same: ending adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), advancing restorative justice, reducing mass incarceration, keeping families together, and replacing punishment with community care.

This isn’t just a new leadership structure, it’s the next step in building a stronger movement. We’re excited for what’s ahead and grateful to everyone who continues to organize, believe, and build alongside us.
Albany was the beginning. Troy is next. Schenectady is next. The movement continues.

Behind every violence related statistic we hear in Albany, is a person, a family, and a community searching for hope.

Today, I met the people behind We Are Revolutionary who are working to break cycles of trauma by bringing neighbors together—one block party, one conversation, and one act of support at a time. Their message: healing is possible, and change starts in the community.

This isn't just a block party. It's a violence prevention strategy.

Our communities have always shared more than neighborhoods. We share histories, cultures, struggles, and a determination to create something better for the generations coming after us.

Join us for Afro Latino Diaspora Day, a celebration of culture, resilience, and collective power. African and Latin diasporic communities have long faced many of the same challenges, including poverty, housing instability, family separation, mass incarceration, and barriers to opportunity. This gathering is an opportunity to celebrate who we are, build meaningful relationships, strengthen solidarity, and organize around the future we deserve.

As part of this year’s celebration, We Are Revolutionary is launching a community effort to provide passports to local families. Our goal is simple: connect our people to the world, strengthen ties to culture and family, and help ensure that freedom, opportunity, and exploration are not privileges reserved for a few.
Come celebrate, connect, learn, and help us build bridges across communities while investing in the next generation.

Looking for a way to get involved, give back, and make a real impact in your community?

Join us for our upcoming We Are Revolutionary Orientation where you'll learn more about who we are, what we do, and how you can become part of the movement.

As we prepare for our summer Stay Out the Field Day Block Party Series, we're looking for community members, volunteers, organizers, artists, outreach workers, peacekeepers, and people who simply care about our neighborhoods. During orientation we'll go over available roles, expectations, responsibilities, and the many ways you can contribute to creating safer, healthier, and more connected communities.

We Are Revolutionary believes that violence prevention starts with relationships, opportunity, healing, and community, not punishment. If you've ever wanted to be part of something bigger than yourself, this is a great place to start.
