The New York State Sheriffs' Institute Summer Camp is about much more than a week of summer fun!

From fishing and sailing to making new friends and trying things they've never done before, campers build confidence, learn teamwork and develop skills they'll carry with them long after camp ends.

It's one of the programs we're especially proud of, giving children from across New York State an opportunity to learn, grow and make some great memories.

The New York State Sheriffs’ Institute Summer Camp includes innovative programming that helps to build our campers’ confidence, while they make new friends and become more aware of their natural and social environments. Campers develop lasting memories, work well in groups, and work toward achieving goals. At week’s end, children are more prepared to take on the challenges they may face in the future. Congratulations to Deputies Niko Ingle and Bailey Lamphier of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office on their graduation from the CNY Regional Law Enforcement Academy!

After six months of training, both deputies are now moving on to field training alongside experienced officers.

A great example of law enforcement and the community working together!

Chemung County Sheriff Bill Schrom and Deputy Chris Long joined the Elmira Police Department, County Executive Moss and members of City of Light Church for National Faith & Blue Weekend.

The day included a church service, neighborhood cleanup and lunch together. This marks the fifth year local law enforcement has partnered with the church for the event.

Congratulations to Detective Scott Kuhlmey of the Erie County Sheriff's Office, who was recently awarded the Buffalo Fire Commissioner's Unit Citation for Bravery.

Detective Kuhlmey and his K9 partner, Clipper, were recognized for their work investigating a tragic house fire in Buffalo last October that claimed the lives of a woman and her newborn baby.

Their investigation uncovered evidence of ignitable liquids at the scene, and a suspect was later indicted on murder and arson charges.

On Saturday, Detective Scott Kuhlmey of the Fire Investigation Unit was awarded the Buffalo Fire Commissioner's Unit Citation for Bravery. The honor is related to Detective Kuhlmey and K9 Clipper's investigation into a residential structure fire in the City of Buffalo on October 18, 2025. An adult female and newborn baby were found dead inside the home. Deputy Kuhlmey's investigation found that ignitable liquids were present at the scene of the fire. A suspect was later indicted on murder and arson charges.

A big welcome to 12 new Correction Officers at the Oneida County Sheriff's Office!

This is the largest group of Correction Officers hired at one time by the department in decades. Congratulations to all 12 as they begin their new careers!

Interested in joining them? The Sheriff's Office is accepting registrations for its next Correction Officer exam through November 16, with testing scheduled for December 1–15.

Last week, the Sheriff’s Office was extremely excited to welcome 12 new Corrections Officers to the Sheriff’s Office.

This is the largest group of new correction officers hired at the same time at the Sheriff’s Office in decades. A huge thank you goes out to everyone that was part of the recruitment & hiring process, including our Professional Standards Unit along with the Oneida County Department of Personnel.

As each of these new officers begin their career with us, we wish them nothing but success moving forward.

School Resource Officers do so much more than provide security in our schools!

The Delaware County Sheriff's Office recently shared photos of SRO Matthew Gombosi at Stamford Central School and SRO William Beers at Walton Central School.

From school activities to everyday interactions with students, these deputies are building relationships and becoming familiar faces in their school communities.

Congratulations to Correction Officer Robert E. Buchholz on his retirement from the Niagara County Sheriff's Office!

Officer Buchholz began his career with the department in 1998 and went on to serve in several roles, including the Correctional Emergency Response Team, Transports and Jail Programs.

Nearly three decades of service to Niagara County! Thank you for your dedication, Officer Buchholz, and best wishes for a wonderful retirement! Niagara County Sheriff

Officer Buchholz began his career with NCSO in 1998 as a laundry worker before moving to Maintenance in 2000. He began serving as a part-time Correctional Officer in January 2001 and became a full-time Correctional Officer in May 2002, where he has served since.

Throughout his career, Officer Buchholz was assigned to Transports, served as a member of the Correctional Emergency Response Team, and held the position of Jail Programs Officer. His professionalism, commitment, and willingness to serve in many important roles made a lasting contribution to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office.

Thank you, Officer Buchholz, for your many years of dedicated service! We wish you all the best in retirement. Congratulations!
