⚠️ SCAM ALERT: “Free World Cup Streams” May Be Serving Scams—Not Soccer

Websites promising every World Cup match live, in HD and for free may look convincing, but many are designed to trigger malicious pop-ups, hidden advertisements and redirects.

Clicking the video player may lead to:

• Fake virus or software-update warnings
• Malware and fraudulent downloads
• Bogus prize or verification pages
• Cryptocurrency scams
• Subscription traps
• Requests for personal or financial information

Watch matches only through official broadcasters and trusted streaming services. If a website opens extra tabs, repeatedly asks you to “click to continue,” or prompts you to download something, close the page immediately.

Never enter personal information or install software from an unofficial streaming website. Keep your browser, operating system and security software updated—and please share this warning with family and friends who may be searching for World Cup coverage.

There are still a few days left in the school year, and the Erie County Sheriff's Office remains committed to the safety of our children. June is Safety Month.

Most accidents, scams, and emergencies don't begin with a major event—they begin with a small moment of distraction, a rushed decision, or a warning sign that gets overlooked.

This month, challenge yourself to do one thing a little safer:
✔ Lock your vehicle
✔ Update a password
✔ Wear a seatbelt
✔ Check a smoke alarm
✔ Verify before you click

Small habits. Big difference.

This Father's Day, we recognize the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father figures who lead by example, provide support, and help keep their families and communities strong.

We also extend our appreciation to the many Sheriff's Office personnel spending part of the day away from their loved ones while serving and protecting others.

To all the dads making a difference—at home, at work, and in their communities—thank you.

Happy Father's Day from the New York State Sheriffs' Association.
