With so many new faces here, we wanted to take a moment to share the heart behind The River Project.

This started with my son, River, but it became something much bigger.

I chose the name “The River Project” because a river gives life. It nourishes, provides, and connects everything around it. That’s what we want to be for our community.

Our mission is simple: to bring awareness to autism and support the families, teachers, and individuals who live it every single day.

Not just surface-level awareness, but real understanding. The kind that opens conversations, breaks down stigma, and supports the people who often go unseen.

Everything we do directly benefits the Wood County SSA school and helps strengthen the support system around these kids, some of them that you can find in the pics attached 💙

We’re glad you’re here. And we’re even more excited about where our journey continues to take us!

Because awareness isn’t just something you say… it’s something you build. And THAT is what we aim to do 💙🫶🏼

It’s World Autism Awareness day 💙
I want to touch on something that has become so obvious to me lately.
1 in 31 kids in the US have autism. To put things in to perspective - 1 child in every two classrooms at your child’s school likely has autism.

River has two neurotypical brothers. As he has gotten older, he has started participating in Wednesday night church, attends sports practices/games, and does a lot of things with his brothers around a lot of their friends….

And do you know what I’ve observed?

Inclusion..
Acceptance..
Friendship.

I don’t think it’s necessarily due to better parenting, adults are the worst critics - especially in the world of social media, but I think it’s because it’s becoming such a prominent thing in society. It’s in their schools, in their friends groups, it’s different than when you and I were growing up. Autism is everywhere.

Mark my words.. this generation of children, OUR children, are going to change the tone in the world of autism. A world that used to be so taboo.
I see fighters. Future advocates. Accepting hearts and kind spirits.

And in a world that seems so dark in a lot of aspects here lately, it feels so good to have a glimmer of hope for the future of autistic individuals.

With those statistics, you never know when autism could be knocking on your door. Whether it’s a child, a new grand baby, your child’s friend..

Be accepting. Be inclusive. Be kind.
And be proud of your kids. Ask them what they know about autism.. they might teach you something 💙
