September is National Su***de Prevention Month. 🪶

The fire family is built on brotherhood and sisterhood. We back each other up through smoke, flames, and heavy rescues, and we need to back each other up off the call, too.

This month, let’s pledge to break the stigma around mental health in the fire service:

1️⃣ Normalize the conversation: Talk openly about the impact of tough calls.

2️⃣ Know the signs: Watch for changes in mood, isolation, or severe fatigue in your crew.

3️⃣ Be the bridge: Reach out if someone seems off, a simple "How are you really doing?" can save a life.

🛠️ Resources for Responders:

988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline: Dial 988

Colorado Crisis Services: 1-844-493-TALK or text TALK to 38255

NVFC Share the Load Program: 1-888-731-FIRE

September is National Preparedness Month.

EMS, fire and law enforcement prepare for emergencies every day.

But the strongest communities are the ones where residents prepare too.

This month is a good time to ask:

*Are emergency alerts turned on?
*Does your family have a plan?
*Do you have essential medications available?
*Could your household manage several days without normal services?
*Does your plan include pets?
* Is there someone nearby who may need extra help?

Recent flooding across the West has shown again how quickly an ordinary day can become an emergency. Prepared communities help responders do their jobs—and recover faster afterward.

EMS Provider Resiliency Resources Survey

The Path4EMS Program Review Task Force has extended the closing date for the EMS Provider Resiliency Resources Survey, in order to obtain a sufficient number of responses. This is to help us better understand what resiliency and support resources are known and available to EMS professionals in Colorado. A link to this survey can be found here. If you haven’t already, we ask that you please take a few minutes to complete the survey, which will now close on September 3rd. If you have any questions please contact Tim Petreit.
