Adobe de Oro is proud to announce that we are a recipient of the America 250 - Colorado 150 grant! As we mark this uniquely Colorado moment, we invite you to pause, reflect upon, and honor Colorado’s shared history as we imagine our future together. We are happy to be part of educational opportunities, and statewide celebrations that will bring us together in 2026.

As part of our grant efforts we will be hosting various workshops throughout the San Luis valley this year. Culminating in a community gathering in Alamosa for a meal and celebration. More details to come.

As part of this grant project we are seeking individuals with experience in holding a matanza, which is a traditional community gathering centered on butchering a whole hog to produce pork dishes like chicharrónes, carne adovada, and posole. It is a vital, multi-generational cultural celebration rooted in heritage, focusing on family and community.

If you are interested, or if you know someone with experience, please send us a message or contact our President, Tori Martinez.
