🔥 With a mix of gratitude and finality, we announce that the 2024 Beat the Heat BBQ Festival was the final chapter in an incredible journey. 🔥

For many years, we have had the privilege of hosting professional pitmasters, and certified judges from across the nation here in Alamosa. This event has brought award-winning BBQ to Alamosa, uniting the community with festivities that included a craft brew fest, a chili eating contest, unique entertainment, and a vibrant array of local vendors.

Beat the Heat has been a celebration of Alamosa itself, welcoming visitors to our unique community and showcasing local eateries, attractions, and retailers to the teams, judges, and fans who traveled from near and far. However, we have seen a shift in the landscape of sanctioned BBQ events, with fewer competitions and fewer teams able to travel as often as they once did. It seems that many professional teams have pursued other opportunities or chosen to retire from the sport altogether. As a result, after much thought, our dedicated team of staff, and committee members, has made the difficult decision to close this chapter and focus our energies on new opportunities.

✨🫶We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, vendors, and community members who have been an invaluable part of this incredible journey. You helped make Beat the Heat a unique, unforgettable experience, and it would not have been possible without you. We hope our local sponsors will continue to find worthy events to support, our volunteers will discover exciting new ways to serve Alamosa, and please know Visit Alamosa will remain a strong partner in promoting Alamosa events, the surrounding San Luis Valley, and our tourism partners.
