St. Vinny’s Thrift Store has been a part of the Alamosa community since 1963. It was started by St. Vincent de Paul Society in conjunction with Catholic Daughters, Sangre de Court #1810. The primary activity of the court was to institute a clothing store for the community. The original stock of clothing was obtained from a collection of clothing kept by the Franciscan Sisters in the basement of Sacred Heart Church for distribution to the poor people of the city. With the help of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the CDA Alamosa Court went into the used clothing business and success was instantaneous! The thrift store is important to our organization because the proceeds that come from St. Vinny’s goes to our Parish in the form of a donation from Catholic Daughters Court #1810; other monies/donations go to support our State and National CDA charitable projects.
