Our next Story Slam is coming up in collaboration with the City of Alamosa and the We Are Alamosa Project aka WRAP. The We Are Alamosa Project, a partnership of the City of Alamosa and Colorado nonprofit Community Builders, is a year-and-a-half long initiative designed to create a vision and comprehensive plan for the future of Alamosa. Grounded in extensive community engagement, the process will be shaped by the voices, experiences, and priorities of the people who call Alamosa home. Come share your story with us!

8/15 Theme: What Roots You Here?

Prepare a story about what roots you to Alamosa. A time you felt deeply connected to the land. A person or tradition that keeps you here. Those moments when you think…“That’s so Alamosa!” What you find here that you haven’t found elsewhere.

Tell us about…

The first time you knew Alamosa was home.

What you are looking for, if Alamosa doesn’t feel like home quite yet.

Rules: Stories must be true as remembered by you the storyteller.
Stories must be spoken from the heart, not off the page.

This Saturday! See y'all there!

This Saturday! See y'all there!

Our next Story Slam is coming up!
7/18 Theme: COHABITATION
Prepare a story about living with someone or something. Your difficult college roommate or the raccoons in your backyard. A very particular neighbor or your unique family. Tell us about how you can't live with them, but you can't live without them!
Tell us about...
A time you overstayed your welcome.
A time you had a roommate from hell.
A time you had to make space in your drawers.

Rules: Stories must be true as remembered by you the storyteller. Stories must be spoken from the heart, not off the page.
Group Norms:At the Spadefoot Story Slam, we are here to share stories and listen to each other. We are in practice sharing our experiences and receiving experiences without commentary. When you're not the storyteller you are receiving and practicing deep listening, it takes courage to speak in front of a group, and I want folks to get comfortable with the silence that might arise while they are finding the courage to speak. We will not provide feedback or commentary after a storyteller shares their story. Please wait until after the slam, and ask the person's permission first if you want to know more about their story or experience.
We hope to see you brave souls there!
