Developed as the “legacy project” of the 2013 Leadership Otero Class, and officially adopted by the Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Program captures many of the same elements from the Chamber’s current adult-level Leadership Otero program. It is designed for high school juniors throughout all of Otero County’s school districts, creates the essential link for young adults transit
ioning to adulthood in our community. Designed to guide, teach, and strengthen their leadership skills and abilities, the program will provide supervised leadership activities for selected students.The program brings together a diverse group of students from public, private, and home schools within Otero County. The interaction between the students will be invaluable as they learn and practice the skills necessary to become productive members and community leaders. Together they will explore Otero County – its resources, leadership, issues and opportunities and will examine functional areas of businesses and learn about career pathways found right here in their community. Participants will learn civic responsibility and the role they play now and in the future in hopes to inspire lifelong commitment to the growth and prosperous future of Otero County.
