The Counseling Center is excited to announce our new Alamogordo Drug Free Community Coalition. Our mission is to provide and implement comprehensive prevention strategies focused on education, policy change, enforcement and sustainable impact to reduce youth substance use in Otero County. With the support of our community partners, parents, and our youth, we will strive to make Alamogordo and the surrounding areas a drug free future for all.
October is starting off the holiday season with National Night Out, which was a huge success on Friday 10/9/26, Red Ribbon Week (10/23 thru 10/31), and we strongly support the DEA's Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday 10/24/26, when we all can clean out our cupboards of any expired, unused, unnecessary medications and safely dispose of them at any one of many approved Collection Sites. Alamogordo's own Alamogordo Police Department has a drug disposal receptacle in the front lobby, or check the Collection Site Locator at: https://www.dea.gov/takebackday
