White Sands Chapter, NSDAR

DAR Day of Service. Annually our Chapter has a Holiday card signing for the USS New Mexico and Veterans in New Mexico. This was two Chapters (White Sands and Dona Ana) and a CAR member from Florida. I think we signed about 200 cards. Great day, great social and great meeting.

Our Chapter member Ann Marie Collins (R) presented 5 Braille Constitution/Declaration of Independence books to Tiffanie Owen (L) from the New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired as part of our DAR celebration of Constitution Week. We discovered the school did not have these books in their library. After the presentation, Tiffanie was kind enough to give us a lesson on how Braille was invented. Very Interesting.

White Sands Chapter along with Dona Ana Chapter and Jacob Bennett Chapter were awarded a Certificate today from the First Sergeants Association at Holloman AFB this morning for the donations these three Chapters make annually to the Project Patriot Layette Program. Donations today consisted of 50 handmade baby quilts from Enchanted Quilters Guild (White Sands Members), 22 Baby Books with rubber Ducks donated by the Author Katarina Blakeslee (Jacob Bennett Chapter) and 90 baby outfits and accessories from Dona Ana Chapter. This program benefits new and expecting parents stationed at Holloman AFB, White Sands Missile Range and Space Force Base. We are so proud of our military and especially proud of our Chapter members who donate to this wonderful project.
