At Fostering Wishes, our work is guided by four pillars that address joy, dignity, belonging, and opportunity because when young people are supported as a whole, healing happens and futures change. The reality after foster care ends.

When foster care ends, many young people are expected to step into adulthood overnight without a safety net, without guidance, and without a place to land.

For too many, the path forward is uncertain.

Some struggle to access education.
Some face housing instability.
Some are left navigating adulthood alone.

This isn’t because they lack motivation or ability.
It’s because the system ends before support does.

At Fostering Wishes, we believe no young person should be left asking, “Where do I go now?”
That’s why we create pathways, like trade school programs that offer skills, stability, and a future built on possibility, not survival.

We’re incredibly grateful for Advika Richhariya and Olivia Melaugh, two leaders who play a vital role in supporting Fostering Wishes.

Advika is the President of the Fostering Wishes Club at California High School, where she leads and inspires fellow students to get involved and make a meaningful impact for foster youth. Olivia, our Volunteer Manager, connects and supports individuals who want to help, ensuring our volunteer community continues to grow and thrive.

🦀 The Crab Feed is coming! 🦀

Join us for a night of great food, community, and giving at the Dublin San Ramon Women’s Club Crab Feed on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

Enjoy an all-you-can-eat crab dinner, exciting silent and dessert auctions, games, and more, all while supporting local nonprofits making a real impact in our community.

Proceeds benefit Fostering Wishes and Winter Nights Family Shelter.

Across borders and cultures, one truth remains the same: every child deserves connection, dignity, and a place to belong.

While traveling through India and Southeast Asia, our founder witnessed stories of resilience and hope from children facing abandonment, poverty, and uncertainty experiences that mirror the realities of the youth we serve here at home. These moments were not just eye-opening, they were reaffirming.

They reminded us why Fostering Wishes exists: to create belonging, provide hope, and ensure no child is overlooked. With practical, life-changing support and a community that believes in showing up we can continue turning compassion into action.

Cars Filled, Hearts Full

Thanks to the overwhelming support of our community, we were not only able to fulfill holiday gift wishes for foster children, but also meet birthday wishes along the way. Because so many people showed up with generosity and care, agencies even returned for additional gift pickups.

All gifts have now been delivered to the kids, and this year was an absolute success. It truly shows how much our community came through, not only with generosity, but with greater awareness and compassion for these children.

This was an amazing job done together. Thank you for helping make sure no child was forgotten.

Meet Karen Stepper, Council Member of Danville, sharing why this work matters and how she’s seen the Fostering Wishes mission grow over the past five years.

As Karen shares, “Fostering Wishes has grown in such an astounding way,” reaching foster youth not only during the holidays, but throughout the year through gifts, school support, and resources for youth preparing to age out of foster care.

She also highlights the power of community especially students and schools stepping up to help: “When you ask someone to help with something they understand, it becomes even more special.” From holiday drives to year-round support, this impact is made possible by people who truly care and choose to show up.

None of this happens alone.
From the holiday trees displayed throughout our community to the gifts carefully packed and delivered, this Holiday Drive was made possible by people choosing to show up for foster youth.

Each tree, each tag, and each gift represents a moment of generosity turning kindness into joy for children who deserve to feel seen and celebrated this season.

Thank you to our incredible community partners, donors, and volunteers for opening your doors, giving your time, and helping make the holidays brighter for foster youth. Because of you, these trees became more than decorations they became a pathway to hope.

This is what the Holiday Drive looks like as our community comes together to prepare gifts for foster children this Holiday.

Every toy packed and every drop-off represents love, care, and a reminder to a child that they are thought of this season. We’re so grateful to our volunteers, partners, and supporters who help make these moments possible.

The countdown is on!
There are just a few days left to pick up and drop off gifts at any of our holiday drive locations. Each gift brings joy, dignity, and the reminder that someone cared.

We are also hoping to fill a remaining need for gift cards for our aging out teens. These go directly to youth preparing for their next chapter.
