San Francisco Bay Ferry announced that it recorded 99% passenger satisfaction in a recent independent survey. The ferry service also broke its all-time record for September ridership, carrying more than 308,000 passengers during the month based on preliminary data.

Cloudy skies couldn't scare away thousands of enthusiastic visitors from the ninth annual Blues, Brews & BBQ on Sunday, September 20. Vivian Delchamps Wolf takes a trip to Washington Park to soak up the sounds, sights, and smells of the festival that draws crowds from throughout the Bay Area.

Another fun pick - this time Hachiya Persimmons (the tear-drop shaped ones) on Bay Farm Island. Such a beautiful tree and we were able to glean 267 pounds for our neighbors at the Food Bank. Win-win for everyone!

Learn how to make the BEST fertilizer and build your own worm bin.

Join us for a family-friendly, hands-on workshop led by Compost Gal, Lori Caldwell. A longtime teacher and active composter, Lori will share worm composting fundamentals and lead us in building worm bins.

Vermicompost is an ideal organic fertilizer for veggie gardens and fruit trees. Plus composting with worms is easy, fun and suited to small indoor spaces. Added bonus, it’s another creative way to recycle veggie food scraps.

Each registered household will build and take home their own bin, complete with red wigglers. Bring as many members of your household as you’d like, but please register only once per household.
