Music by Bach has been popular with the young artists we've been featuring for our Sunday Brunch with Tuesday Musical series this summer! Hear a unique Bach performance on the marimba by Jonathan Cooley, a student at the University of Cincinnati-Conservatory of Music. He plays Bach's "Cello Suite No. 5, Prelude" for the 2026 Tuesday Musical Final Round/Winners Concert in May.

Jonathan won a spot on the concert stage by competing in the 2026 scholarship competition where he was awarded the Tuesday Musical Percussion Scholarship. Both the competition and concert were on The University of Akron campus. A percussionist for 12 years, Jonathan is pursuing a master’s degree in percussion performance at the University of Cincinnati. He has a bachelor’s degree in percussion performance from the University of Alabama.

Begun in 1955 and with significant scholarships, Tuesday Musical’s annual competition is widely recognized as the best of its kind in Ohio for talented students embarking on careers as music educators and performers. Summer Sunday Brunch with Tuesday Musical! Welcome and we hope it's a perfect day made even more perfect with music by Rachmaninoff! In our brunch video, pianist HaEun Kim performs the "Piano Sonata in B-Flat Minor No. 2, (1931 version) Op. 36 I. Allegro agitato" by Sergei Rachmaninoff for the Tuesday Musical Final Round/Winners Concert in May.

HaEun earned her spot on the concert program by winning the 2nd Place, Marguerite Thomas & Gertrude Lancaster Scholarship at the 2026 Tuesday Musical Annual Scholarship Competition earlier this year, also on The University of Akron campus. Born in South Korea, HaEun is pursuing a doctor of musical arts degree in piano performance at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM).

Begun in 1955 and with significant scholarships, Tuesday Musical’s annual competition is widely recognized as the best of its kind in Ohio for talented students embarking on careers as music educators and performers. You can imagine Alisdair Welty's performance of a symphony by Louis Vierne thundering through the storied cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris!

Alidsair played Vierne's "Symphony No. 5 in A Minor, II. Allegro" for Tuesday Musical's Final Round/Winner's Concert in May 2026. Vierne was the cathedral's organist from 1900 to 1937. The organ in this video is in the sanctuary of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Akron.

Competing in March, Alisdair won the 2nd Place Tuesday Musical Scholarship at the music organization's 2026 Annual Scholarship Competition, giving him the opportunity to perform in the winner's concert. Alisdair is a freshman at the Cleveland Institute of Music studying under Todd Wilson.

You can imagine Alisdair Welty's performance of a symphony by Louis Vierne thundering through the storied cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris!

Snider Scholarship at the Tuesday Musical 2026 Annual Scholarship Competition in March for a second time! Dylan is our featured artist for Sunday Brunch with Tuesday Musical on July 19, 2026; our virtual meet up where we share video performances from Tuesday Musical events.

His win earned him a spot on the program of Tuesday Musical's Final Round/Winners Concert in May, also at The University of Akron. He performed "El Rio" by Liam Teague on the tenor steel pan.

Home for Dylan is Canton, Ohio. He is a senior percussion performance major at the university.
