We've got great music for a Dad's Day Sunday Brunch with Tuesday Musical, this coming Sunday, June 21, 2026, here on our page and YouTube Channel. Trumpeter Elijah Leanoard who just graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music will perform via video. Earlier this year, he won the 1st Place Arden J. Yockey Scholarship at the Tuesday Musical 2026 Annual Scholarship Competition in the brass category and was invited to share his music at the Final Round/Winners Concert in May. Join us online after 10 am.

We'll be sharing more video of the concert winners for Sunday Brunch with Tuesday Musical on Sunday mornings, of course, and during the week through most of the summer.

It was 'brava, brava, brava!' from the audience for soprano Sarah Rosales' performance at the 2026 Tuesday Musical Final Round/Winners Concert in May at The University of Akron Guzzetta Hall. Sarah was invited to perform after wining the 1st Place, Arden J. Yockey Scholarship for Voice at the 2026 Tuesday Musical Annual Scholarship Competition earlier in the year.

For the concert, she sang “Non mi dir” from "Don Giovanni" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Pianist Ben Malkevitch was her accompanist.

A music student at University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Sarah is a Salvadoran-American soprano from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Career highlights include Alícia in the world premiere of "The House on Mango Street" by Derek Bermel and Sandra Cisneros, covering the role Isabella Stewart Gardner in the world premiere of Damien Geter’s "American Apollo" (Des Moines Metro Opera), Belle ("Beauty & the Beast," Opera Iowa) and Lauretta/Nan Wood Graham ("Gianni Schicchi/American Gothical," Cedar Rapids Opera). She has received awards from organizations including The Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, Opera Mississippi, The Schubert Club, National Society of Arts & Letters, Musicians Club of Women and The George Shirley Vocal Competition.

Begun in 1955 and with significant scholarships, Tuesday Musical’s annual competition is widely recognized as the best of its kind in Ohio for talented students embarking on careers as music educators and performers. For more information about the competition, go to tuesdaymusical.org/scholarship.

A concerto for tuba? Prolific British composer of symphonies, film music, orchestral music, sound poems, stage music and more, Ralph Vaughn Williams thought it was a perfectly brilliant instrument for a concerto and wrote this one when he was 82. Joseph Barnhouse chose William’s “Concerto for Bass Tuba and Orchestra, Prelude” to play in the 2026 Tuesday Musical Final Round/Winners Concert at The University of Akron in May. His accompanist was pianist, Ben Malkevitch.

Joseph was invited to play in the concert after winning the 2nd Place, Tuesday Musical Scholarship for Brass at the Tuesday Musical 2026 Annual Scholarship Competition in March, also at The University of Akron.

He is a senior tuba performance major at Baldwin Wallace University, studying with Dr. Ken Heinlein. Joseph is an active performer and educator in northeastern Ohio. Some solo accomplishments include an Honorable Mention from the Yamaha Young Performing Artists Competition and being a finalist in the Lauria Concerto Competition and the Artist Division Solo Competition at the Northeast Tuba Euphonium conference.

Strapatsada, honey pancakes and koulouri! Celebrating Greek foods for this week's Sunday Brunch with Tuesday Musical on our page and YouTube Channel. Our violinist Christoforos Petridis, who has played at Carnegie Hall, is Greek and studies music at Oberlin Conservatory.

The 2026 Tuesday Musical Final Round/Winners Concert audience loved violinist Christoforos' performance and chose him for the People's Choice Award, named for John M. Ream Jr. DDS! With his accompanist Tatiana Lokhina, Christoforos performed "Violin Concerto in D major, Op.35 Moderato Nobile" by Erich Wolfgang Korngold. He also took home the 2nd Place, Tuesday Musical Scholarship from competing in the earlier 2026 Tuesday Musical Annual Scholarship Competition at The University of Akron in March.

Join us, June 7th, here on our page or at our YouTube Channel for Sunday Brunch with Tuesday Musical featuring the John M Ream DDS People's Choice Award winner of the Final Round/Winners Concert, Christoforos Petridis. He is a student at Oberlin Conservatory. The audience loved his concert performance in May and it showed with their votes! Our online brunch is ready by 10 am.

Tuesday Musical's Annual Scholarship Competition is in its 70th year. More than $41,000 in scholarships is awarded annually to talented collegiate musicians studying music or music education in Ohio or who are Ohio residents. Franz Liszt showed up for the 2026 Tuesday Musical Final Round/Winners Concert of the organization's annual scholarship competition! Organist Chase Olson, a student at Oberlin Conservatory of Music, played Liszt's "Präludium und Fuge über den Namen BACH, S. 260." Chase was invited to perform for the concert after earning the 1st Place, Tuesday Musical Scholarship for Organ at the annual competition held at The University of Akron in March. Bach for Sunday Brunch with Tuesday Musical! One of our favorites when you "tuck in" to your English breakfast or your frittata. And so delightful performed by a classical guitarist! Oberlin Conservatory student and classical guitarist Solis Dornan walked away with two awards from the Tuesday Musical 2026 Annual Scholarship Competition at The University of Akron. He won the Margaret Watts Hunter Scholarship in the classical guitar category. With the top spot in that category, he was invited to the Winners/Final Round Concert also at The University of Akron, where he won the second prestigious Arden J. Yockey Scholarship.

For the concert, he played "Suite in E Major, BWV 1006a Prelude" by Johann Sebastian Bach and "Preludio II" by Joaquin Rodrigo.

Solis performs across the United States. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in guitar performance and studies under Stephen Aron at Oberlin Conservatory. Born in Los Ranchos, New Mexico, Solis is steeped in the Spanish and Mexican guitar tradition, studying flamenco, mariachi and classical guitar in school. An international performer, he played in the first classical guitar concerts in the Shetland Islands and the northernmost classical guitar concert in the United Kingdom.
