Asia’s Hope, Cambodia!

After the outreach event, we spent time with the BB6 family. We’ve included some pictures of their kitchen, backyard, boys room, and shower room. Though they lack modern appliances, the food they prepare is absolutely delicious and healthy.

On our last day in Battambang, we treated all three BB homes to a swim party! We then traveled back to Phnom Penh, where we spent our last two days with the PE1 family. 

Needless to say, if you look at the last picture, you can clearly see that these are families filled with joy and true love for each other. What a blessing it has been to share our Savior’s love with these precious children and to spend time with them.

God is good! We were honored and privileged to be part of a local village outreach event sharing the gospel. Our team members raised $3,650 and we are so grateful to the generosity of those who gave. Your kindness and willingness to give have made it possible for us to extend love, care, and practical help to under-privileged families. Through your support, we were able to demonstrate Christ compassion in action, bringing hope and encouragement to those in need. 

The funds were used to provide 3,000 kg of rice, 150 boxes of noodles, 300 bottles of fish and soy sauce, as well as 150 packets of school supplies to needy families and students in Tapon Province.

We are also grateful to Savorn Ou, Director of Asia’s Hope Cambodia, the President of Social Affairs, the Chief of Tapon Commune, for their messages of encouragement and hope to those who attended. Also thanks to Don Bechtel, who shared his testimony during this event. 

Through Asia’s Hope, continued visits will be made to follow up with those who attended. Please pray that hearts will be open, and that God‘s word will change their lives.

Greetings from Asia’s Hope Cambodia! We arrived in Phnom Penh late Friday night and traveled to Battambang Saturday. On Sunday, we attended church at the Asias Hope Battambang campus where Don Bechtel gave the sermon. He helped the children understand that God created not only them, but he created the earth, stars, and galaxies, and that he knows each, and every one of us intimately. 

We spent the day with our BB 11 family, then spent time with BB 12. At both homes, Donna Bechtel taught the children the many facets of God‘s character by reading scripture and identifying each attribute. Don taught new songs on the recorder to both homes. We played games and had pizza parties, too!

Stay tuned for our next update where we attended a village outreach (with funds the team raised) sharing the gospel message with over 300 local villagers.

Final update, Cambodia. We attended the Asia’s Hope Church, located right on campus with Denny Adams giving the sermon. We also visited their university “Hope Student Center”, meeting the dormitory parents and taking a short tour of some rooms. Lastly, we spent a few final hours with the Prek Eng 1 home children.
Our hearts were filled with joy, but also sadness, knowing it was time to head home. This is such an incredible ministry, not only rescuing at-risk orphaned children and making disciples, but Asia’s Hope is training disciple makers. 
“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Luke 10:2
In Cambodia we have the privilege of prayerfully supporting the building up and sending out of laborers into this incredibly ripe field. What a joy to watch God at work.

On our final day with the three Asia’s Hope Battambang homes that we visited, we treated the kids to a special time at a nearby waterpark. It had been seven years since their last visit to the park, and needless to say, they had an absolutely wonderful time. We then met for a final evening together, singing songs, and praying, followed by a few fun games. And then we said goodbye. On Friday, we drove back to Phnom Penh. On Saturday we spent some quality time with the Prek Eng One Home children, learning about them, and how Jesus has made a difference in their life. The wordless book was shared, bracelets made, then we played some games. We had a water balloon toss, which eventually erupted into an all out water war! So, that’s it for now.
