DLM Food and Resources DLM Food and Resources provides food, clothing, diapers and additional resources to families in crisis. It is offered in memory of Debra Lynn Manteghi.

We work closely with community partners to meet needs of families . We believe in being genuine people delivering heart-felt service. DLM Food and Resources is a joint project of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and Akron Public Schools’ Project Rise. It serves homeless students and their families primarily by providing food (a need identified by Project Rise), as well as access to other helpful inf

ormation. Debra Manteghi was a Holy Trinity member who was a well-respected presence in the city of Akron and an advocate for homeless families in the community. She started Akron Public Schools’ Project Rise over 20 years ago. She recently passed away and this project was born through relationships formed during her end of life care. The name “Dare to Love More” comes from her initials D.L.M. and honors her challenge to care and advocate for those on the margins.

It's all in the hands—warm hands, loving hands, and serving hands.

DLM had the honor of serving our neighbors alongside the service learning students from Hudson. It was truly a great day of togetherness, and we are grateful for the opportunity to work together in support of our community.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Chick-fil-A for the breakfast sandwiches and fruit bowls, Starbucks for the coffee, and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for the cereal. Because of your generosity, we were able to feed 93 unsheltered neighbors and friends.

Our recent cupcake event was a sweet sensation! We had 40 people in attendance, and it was wonderful to see the families work together to create beautiful cupcakes under the instruction of a local baker from Little Loves Bakery. In addition to the decorating, families enjoyed dinner, colored together, and even participated in a game of cupcake bingo.

I would like to extend a big thank you to our baker, Jennifer Shaver, and to Project Rise for collaborating with us on this event. Thank you to all of our volunteers for your hard work, and a special thank you to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for providing such a safe and welcoming atmosphere for us to gather.

DLM expresses our deepest gratitude to all the wonderful members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for your continued faithfulness and support.

The church has been incredibly generous, donating over 300 boxes of cereal along with pasta, peanut butter, jelly, and jars of pasta sauce. Furthermore, your commitment to donating your time to help prepare our box experience, filled with fresh produce and meats, is truly inspiring.

DLM's Black History Month event was a wonderful experience. We had 73 people in attendance!

It was a truly great experience where families enjoyed a meaningful time of togetherness and unity in a safe and comfortable environment. Guests enjoyed a delicious soul food dinner and participated in various activities, including crafts, making bracelets, face painting and tattoos. Together, we created two beautiful banners of togetherness: "We are a Family" and "We are All God's Children."

The event also featured free giveaways and moving poetry readings written by Maya Angelou, Langston Hughes, and others. We were even honored by a visit from Harriet Tubman, who spoke about her courageous journey leading people to freedom.

It was a truly memorable celebration for our community.

Last Saturday marked DLM's first opening, and our volunteers did an incredible job getting ready to open the doors to the community.

We were able to support our neighbors with essentials including fresh meat, fresh produce, hygiene items, cleaning products, and diapers. Providing these items on Valentine's Day was truly a wonderful way to show we are always Daring to Love More when it comes to our community.

On Saturday, we hosted the "Breakfast with Santa" event, and it was a truly wonderful experience. It was great to see all the kids and families weathering the cold to come and enjoy breakfast, a warm cup of hot chocolate, crafts, games, and, of course, Santa!

DLM, along with Project Rise, hosted 203 children who were able to enjoy this amazing time. It was a great time of togetherness for everyone involved.

This was our last event for the year. Happy Holidays from DLM Food and Resources!
