Our goal

The Springfield Township Police Department is excited to announce a new opportunity to improve our community. We are asking for your help with raising the funds to begin our department's K9 unit. With the addition of a trained and nationally certified dual purpose police service dog, we feel that this can benefit our community and the communities surrounding us by making it a safer area to live in.

At the end of our training a dual purpose K9 will be able to assist officers in the following areas: location of drugs/narcotics in vehicle and building searches, criminal apprehension and tracking (both criminals and others that are lost and in danger), handler protection, and for informational programs that help build community relations.

It is with the above in mind that we ask for your support. To make our dream of starting our K9 unit a reality we must first develop the necessary funds. With that being said, we are asking for the communities help. We ask for donations and support at the events and fundraisers being held.

We believe that it is important for the community to understand what their donations will fund. The following items must be purchased to start our program: trained dual purpose police K9, basic K9 handler course and certifications, necessary equipment for the dog, ballistic K9 vest, vehicle insert design for transport of a police working dog and the construction of a kennel for the K9's housing.
