📚👑 HELPING STUDENTS READ, LEARN, GROW & LEAD! 👑📚

We are excited to share an opportunity from one of our BCCSC members, Before the Crowning Student Transition, with their BTCS Read to Lead After-School Program!

The program is designed to support students with reading, homework completion, comprehension, and leadership development in a supportive after-school environment.

📅 Begins October 13th
🗓️ Tuesday – Thursday
⏰ 3:00 PM – 6:15 PM
📍 Ed Davis Community Center

Students will receive:
📖 Homework completion support
📚 A focus on reading & comprehension
🍎 A hearty snack
👑 Opportunities to learn, grow, and develop leadership skills

This week, we’re proud to spotlight Leia’ Love Salon, founded by our very own Dr. Leia’ Love, who also serves as a BCCSC Board Member and Executive Committee member! 🖤

Located in Fairlawn, Leia’ Love Salon is more than a beauty studio. It is a space centered around restoration, confidence, healing, and helping people love what they see in the mirror. From 3D ar**la tattooing and scar camouflage to healthy hair care, brows, waxing, and other beauty services, Leia’ Love Salon helps clients feel like themselves again.

Dr. Love’s passion for the beauty industry began at a young age and grew into a purpose of using beauty as a tool for confidence and restoration, particularly for those navigating life after surgery and treatment.

We are grateful to have leaders like Dr. Love within the BCCSC community who are not only building successful businesses, but also investing their time, talents, and leadership into our community. 💛

✨ Honored to Be Recognized at The Village Ball! ✨

The Black Chamber of Commerce Summit County (BCCSC) was honored to be selected as the recipient of the Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics) Award at The Village Ball on Saturday, August 15th.

Although our Chamber leadership was unable to attend, we were grateful to have our Board President, and several BCCSC members represent the Chamber and accept this honor on our behalf. ❤️

We are truly thankful to The Village Ball and the Akron Legacy Building organization for recognizing the work BCCSC continues to do to support Black owned businesses, strengthen cooperative economics, and build a stronger business community throughout Summit County.

This recognition is a reflection of the collective work of our members, board, partners, and community. We are proud to continue Empowering Business, Building Community.

Yersterday we had the opportunity to celebrate the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting of Suites, Inc. Salon Suites, one of our valued BCCSC members!

We were also honored to have Mayor Shammas Malik join us to celebrate this important community achievement and recognize the impact that new businesses and entrepreneurs have on the growth and future of Akron. 🏙️👏🏾

Located at 1915 W. Market Street, Suite 900 in Akron, Suites, Inc. is creating a space where beauty professionals can build their businesses, pursue their dreams, and create bold futures. 💇🏾‍♀️✨

The celebration brought together entrepreneurs, beauty professionals, community members, supporters, and local leaders, including Mayor Shammas Malik, to recognize this exciting new chapter.
