With a commitment to redefining community and building stronger families, The LeBron James Family Foundation invests its time, resources and passion into creating generational change for the kids and families of James’ hometown in Akron, Ohio through a focus on education and co-curricular educational initiatives. With its foundational I PROMISE Program, LJFF serves more than 1,500 students and the

ir entire families by providing them with the fundamental resources, wraparound supports and family programming they need for success in school and beyond. In 2018, the Foundation partnered with Akron Public Schools to build all of its family-first programming and academic interventions into the groundbreaking I PROMISE School that has created a new model for urban, public education. The Foundation has layered in additional supports including higher education and family supports at the I PROMISE Institute, transitional housing at the I PROMISE Village, longer-term housing at the upcoming I PROMISE Housing, and several hands-on supports in between. These life-changing resources, combined with the Foundation’s “We Are Family” philosophy are re-defining what a family and community looks like.

Every spoke strengthens the wheel. Together, they create momentum for our families, our students, and our community. 💚

From 3rd grade to 8th grade, it’s been a journey full of growth and keeping promises. 💚

We celebrated our 8th grade scholars as they walked across the stage in Hometown Hall for Promotion Day surrounded by their families and IPS community that’s been with them every step of the way. 🥹 This isn’t just the end of a chapter, it’s the start of what’s next. As high school I Promise students, they’ll continue to carry their 5 Habits of Promise, their House spirit, and everything they’ve learned here at IPS into high school and beyond. More promises kept. More greatness ahead. 🚀🙌

It all started with a kid from Akron and a bike… 🚲

When LeBron James was growing up in Akron, those two wheels gave him the freedom and mobility needed to get to the park, the rec center to shoot hoops, and places where he could be with his community. Throughout his journey, those two wheels have continued to represent the opportunities, accessibility, and the feeling of freedom only a bike can provide.

For the LeBron James Family Foundation , that was literally captured in the bike-a-thon, a notable event that did good for a day, which has evolved into the I Promise program now serving over 2,500 students with all the resources they need to access their dreams. That history is a huge part of why you’ll see so many wheels all throughout Buckets. We wanted to pay homage to our humble beginnings as a Foundation and the journey that helped get us here, because we promise to never forget where we came from.

This Spring, we have 9 graduates earning their degrees from & in fields ranging from Molecular and Cellular Biology to Criminology & Justice Studies.
