LeBron James Family Foundation Redefining community and building stronger families through education and a promise. 👑

With a commitment to redefining community and building stronger families, The LeBron James Family Foundation invests its time, resources and passion into creating generational change for the kids and families of James’ hometown in Akron, Ohio through a focus on education and co-curricular educational initiatives. With its foundational I PROMISE Program, LJFF serves more than 1,500 students and their entire families by providing them with the fundamental resources, wraparound supports and family programming they need for success in school and beyond. In 2018, the Foundation partnered with Akron Public Schools to build all of its family-first programming and academic interventions into the groundbreaking I PROMISE School that has created a new model for urban, public education. The Foundation has layered in additional supports including higher education and family supports at the I PROMISE Institute, transitional housing at the I PROMISE Village, longer-term housing at the upcoming I PROMISE Housing, and several hands-on supports in between. These life-changing resources, combined with the Foundation’s “We Are Family” philosophy are re-defining what a family and community looks like.

Leaving things better than we found them has always been at the heart of what we do. 💚

In 2025 alone, our High School I Promise Network students helped serve more than 12,000 hot meals to students and families with the help of Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. 🙌 And our high school seniors completed more than 6,000 hours of community service, bringing our all-time total to nearly 39,000 hours and counting of giving back since the program began.

Community service is woven into the I Promise journey and plays an important role in earning an I Promise Scholarship. More importantly, it gives our students the opportunity to show up for others, give back to their community and help make a difference along the way. 💪 We’re proud to watch our students put in the work and leave a little good behind wherever they go. 💚

Happy World Teachers’ Day! Today, we celebrate the teachers who show up, believe big and remind our students that there is no limit to what they can become. You see their potential, celebrate every milestone and continue to pour into them day after day.

At IPS, we know it takes a village. Our teachers are an important part of that village helping our students grow, dream bigger and break barriers along the way. To our IPS teachers, thank you for believing in our kids & loving them like family. We are so grateful for you. 🍎💚

The school year is underway, and our Happy Happy Market is here ready to remind our families that they never have to walk this journey alone. 💚

Located in the Family Resource Center wing of the I Promise School, the Happy Happy Market is more than a place to pick up essentials. What started as a simple promise to meet our families where they are has grown into something so much deeper: a space where barriers are removed, burdens are lifted, and families can find the things they need to feel supported, cared for and ready to thrive. 🙌

Together with our family at Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, we’re continuing to make sure our families have access to fresh food and everyday essentials, from clothing and shoes to toiletries, all at no cost.

Supporting our students means supporting the people who love them, too. And at I PROMISE, we’ll always show up for our families, meet them where they are and make sure they know they are never alone. 💚
