Property taxes pose a significant concern for families in Ohio.
However, completely eliminating them without a well-thought-out plan doesn't solve the issue; it exacerbates it.
Abolishing property taxes would eliminate the primary source of funding for local communities. Consequently, essential services funded locally—such as schools, first responders, and senior care—would face drastic cuts, virtually overnight.
While that funding would vanish, the demand for these services remains. This leads to either increased taxes in other areas, a reduction in services, or both.
